Try both, and stay with the one that suits you best, and works best on your hardware. :)

I'd get EIS myself if given the choice

Trying Emsisoft Internet Security right now.
Comparing to ESS, it appears to offer a more comprehensive configuration and i already know that the detection rates on this puppy are fantastic. The HIPS are also better (or so they seem).
Overall i would say both solutions are great. EAM requires more user interaction while ESS is more 'set it and forget it'. Personally, i'm a sucker for HIPS.
But this solution comes at a cost. The system impact is much greater that in ESS, although i find it 'light' enough for my specs. I think the system impact is close to KIS and far from CIS and ESS, which are very light.
Love the GUI. Everything is there and its easy to find. I'm glad they haven't chosen to change it for a touch UI like Comodo did, which is what made me abbandon it. Although i don't particularly like the different interfaces for Firewall and Antimalware, it still pretty usable.
The scanner seems very slow, but maybe thats just the first scan.
I'd like to see a more detailed comparison between Emsisoft Internet Security, ESS v6 and even CIS v6.
I'll keep it for a while and see if it works well with my browser Maxthon Cloud. ESS works perfectly with it.
    So far... very nice ;)

Edit: Just finished my first scan and when pressing 'View report', it opens an explorer folder with the text reports in it. It offers no GUI for this. Didn't like it, it felt noobish. But this is just a tiny 'deffect'. Many wouldn't bother, but i do :)
Also.... after scan, there's no 'logical' option to add to exclusions.... didn't like that either. Had to find i need to right-click on the files and add them to whitelist.
I liked the Outlook ribbon menu, very nice.

Edit once again.....: When opening 'new' files, it takes forever. I disabled EIS and it the files open in a flash. Nice product but i'm back to ESET :D

I'm looking for outbound protection, I have Edimax router with both SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) and Firewall enabled, plus Windows XP firewall everything inbound is blocked no exceptions are allowed, they are all blocked.
My inbound protection is 100% covered.

But I need something for outbound protection: something that is quiet but blocks outside connections and protects system from infected removable drives (cds, dvds, usbs and etc...) and must be extremely light on resources, can anyone help me with this?
But please without antivirus, I'm trying to cover outbound protection without the use of antivirus applications.

The most simple and light i´ve found was Windows Firewall Notifier. No AV and no HIPS. Maybe too simple for what you´re looking for, or maybe not.

WFN is not a firewall, rather a front-end that extends Windows Vista and 7 firewall functionality by providing real-time alerts for outbound connections. The user uses Windows XP, which built-in firewall lacks outbound control. :)

Yep, I'm on windows xp sp 3 and still looking for outbound protection plus protection from infected removable drives, I didn't think this would be so hard to find.

Wouldn't a firewall like COMODO, Outpost/other known firewall fit within what you expect it from such firewall?

I have only 1 gigabytes of ram memory, that is the limiting factor, I hoped I could use Online Armor (free is enough), but on their website they say OA free takes 512 mb of ram memory.

CWS, what about using a separate sandbox for your USB drives and another one for the CD/DVD drives, use forced folders to force files and programs in those drives to open sandboxed and set it up to block all program from accessing the internet.

From you, I cant believe you haven't tried that. It works great in XP and it doesn't use anymore resources than what you are using now.

For someone using Sandboxie already, who likes and appreciates SBIE, that's a very good solution.

No, that's the minimum system requirement; you have twice that.

I know it sounds very stupid, but I didn't get to this idea, until you told me, thanks for enlightening me.

Sometimes we dont see the forest because of the trees.;)

Even people using the free version can use SBIE to open their USB, CD and DVD drives safely. All is needed is, disable autoruns, create separate sandboxes with the internet restriction and use a sandboxed Windows Explorer to navigate to the drive.
