    Hi,

    I have windows 7 - 64 bits.

My system have an HDD and a SSD uses as cache with the Intel Smart Response Technologie.

I use ShadowProtect Desktop 5.0 for my backup.

The problem is that I can backup my system without any problems but I can not restore it since the Recovery Environnement of SP doesn't see my HDDo_O

I ask Storagecraft before building my system if I could continue to use SP like before eventough I was using an SSD has cache (ISRT). They told me that I shouldn't have any problems... Tuesday in the end of the day when I couldn't restore my system, I try to submit a ticket - no can do I always receive an error message... I try back yesterday morning and it works but I am still waiting an answer from them!?!?! Even Worse, their website seems to be down today... What's going on with StorageCraft? Is there a way from my part to solve my issue? Is there any alternative as good as Shadowprotect Desktop that could backup and restore my system effectively?

    Thanks,

I too have a laptop with an mSSD cache-drive runing W7 x64 and I have also experienced the very same situation when attempting to restore my Windows partition (but that was using IFW, not SP).

In my case, no WinPE boot-disk saw my C-partition, but DOS and Linux boot-disks did see the partition and I was able to restore using those! I can't explain (or understand) why WinPE wouldn't recognize my C-partition, but none that I tried would. :doubt:

    Hi Cruise,

In other words, StorageCraft should offer a RE other than in Windnows environnement... If so, I hope they will do very soon or they might lose a lot of customer!

Known problems of the mSATA cache thing. These configurations use an Intel driver that is not included in the WinPE boot media.

    Hi Robin,

I tried 'injecting' the Intel RST driver in my Active@ Boot-Disk but it still couldn't see my C-partition! o_O

OK. Then I may be wrong and the problem may have another cause.

The problem is already posted in the ShadowProtect forum. Perhaps a solution will come from them.

I just post that in their forum... But if this is a well known problem, I wonder why StorageCraft hasn't resolve this major issue by nowo_O

Thanks Robin A. for the info...

I probably won't do it since all the necessary drivers should be in the RE of SP without for the customer to do any special procedure!?!?! SP is very expensive and the last thing I want is trouble or even worst not being able to restore my backup... I believe that it is the responsability of StorageCraft to make sure that their RE is able to do a restoration under any situation!

Yes, Linux. They are definitely working on such an RE. I have no idea when it will be released, but the open beta has closed. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too much longer.

There´s nothing wrong with the WinPE-based StorageCraft RE. It´s excellent.

The problem is, if you want to use imaging programs you must be willing to take the time to learn certain things...
