What actually surprises you ?

 

Thought chrome would of been higher,

 

To see Google chrome at 3rd. And Internet Explorer at 2nd. Also, MF showing worst results.

 

Although I kind of agree with these results (first tests I come close to agree with - my two favorite browsers on top), don't make them ruin your own life, experience and understanding. This is just a test - nothing more.

 

No one cares about these tests. For me, "Chrome" is the most secure of them all. I love it for its simplicity, speed and protection.

 

Opera is using PhishTank and AVG LinkScanner.

manually in my dns settings and its not blocking anything at all.
Is it mandatory that you register to get Phishtank protection?

 

Maybe you will have to flush your DNS cache

 

OpenDNS doesn't block malware pages, only phishing ones.
It is harder to find them.

I've been hoping they'd make a test like this, really hope they continue doing them!

I'm actually surprised IE scored only 82%. Not surprised at all at the other browsers, especially Opera which uses quite a lot of block lists (I wonder what it's FPs are like?)

As browsers become more advanced they slowly take the place of first line of defence against phishing and malware. It's a hell of a lot better than AV browsers plugins which are generally badly coded, exposing extra attack vectors.

 

Now if they could improve the speed of Opera, it really has fallen behind compared to IE and Chrome in terms of speed.. LESS features, and more worrying about speed would make it usable. I cannot stand using it because of the incompatibilities and speed issues.. <sigh>

 

Nonsense. The Opera 12.10 (and latest 12.12) are just as fast as everything else, in fact Opera's JS engine is among the quickest, probably only getting beaten by Chrome in certain situations.

It's recommended to use AdBlock and Ghostery to filter out slow loading garbage, that will speed things up considerably.

 

The only issue is that extension implementation is so poor, those two barely work. ABP can't even get their button to work correctly.

Not in my experience on multiple computers and Operating systems. I've been trying each new release of Opera for the last 3-4 years and it's always been a pain to use.
