That's what I was wondering unless you go looking for them but don't get me wrong as no AV detects 100% but the support in this case is not typical with my dealings with them.

And I can add: "I still dont understand why people don't make a image recovery in cases like this and then restore it and be done with it ...and use a free AV like Avast!, MSE, Avira, AVG which would offer the same level of protection (if not better)! rather than spending 50$ for a paid AV"

 

I agree and if I didn't get Bitdefender for $5.95 from a download crew special I would have not purchased it.I could afford any software I want but IMO none of them are worth normal retail price's but the exception of a few.

 

wsa does not cost anywhere near 50$ if you look around. i got wsa 5pc complete for free. and they have the same deal often or it might cost 5$...

You can also go with no AV at all for best performance and when you get an infection, completely re-partition and reformat the drive, reinstall windows, and be good to go.

AV protection is a trade off. The work and time to maintain an image, hope the image is pre-infection, and restore an image is higher cost to some people than the cost of the AV and its respective protection.

Why not just make an image recovery?
- WSA doesn't have to deal with full images, which are space-intensive.
- You need to manually maintain the image.
- How long has that virus been hiding on your system? Do you have an image old enough to recover?
- What about changes and work since the image was taken? (Hint: Lost.)

Which is good, indeed very good, but still not as impressive as Prevx's Guarantee. A company who not only offer to connect remotely free of charge to clean your computer in the unlikely event that their AV programme can't clean the infection, but then go on to say they will give you your money back no questions asked if they still can't clean it is in my book a very impressive company indeed.

 

I kicked WSA to the curb a couple months ago. After numerous infections passed through it which were 'supposedly' monitored, and blocking did nothing after the fact on these monitored apps. Then in testing systems were notoriously EASY to infect with WSA running. Frankly, I gave up.

I think they are on to something great with WSA, but another year or two for the product to mature before it is ready for primetime, and I would not consider this product for reasonably high risk machines, no way...

With due respect how do you manage to get 'numerous infections'? I've been using the net for 17 years, have 2000 bookmarks, 130 MegBit fibre connection & 2 PC's are on 24/7 & in that time I've had 1 infection at large a worm 'Benjamin' some years ago - I've had numerous problems blocked but in near on 2 years of using WSA I've had 0 infections on 3 PC's. I also have 4 children who have avidly used the net over the years including 2 boys! I still have one teenager @ home still who lives on the internet - Am I alone here? - BTW I'm not an angel either, that's for sure

 

Pc_Fiddler. I also have been around very dodgy sites and places I probably shouldn't have been. I haven't had an infection for at least 3 years. The last one happened to be a very well disguised picture from a family member.

same for my everyday browsing. i do a lot of testing though so i do see more infections than most but this is "on purpose" testing. for daily use and browsing i rarely see infections i think once in the last 2 years i had something nasty and for me thats pretty good.
