On windows PC is hard to find anything better than utorrent..
If someone uses private trackers there are not many other options...Good to see they are stepping back with this ads thing..I'm using version 2 anyway..

uTorrent makes ads optional following user revolt
I am not sure if this has been substantiated on newer builds but this is the statement being made.

    Sorry, late reply...

The largest amount of IP's we block are those from IANA. These are IP's that shouldn't be seen or used on the internet in the first place.

If you had any understanding of who IANA are and what they do, you might understand why some people are interested in blocking BOGONS, private networks, IANA reserved ranges etc.

These IP's can be used by attackers distributing all kinds of different malware to hide their true source, even on P2P networks.

It's true, we block all kinds of things and much more.. malware, ad servers, internet scams / fraud, bad bots, hackers, exploit scanners. Mostly things that don't have any positive effects towards a persons overall internet experience.

I don't think we're intentionally blocking any soccer companies websites, but in the cases where shared server IP's are being blocked, yes that could happen.

You don't need to wear a tinfoil hat because you want to lock down your internet. It's no business of yours what someone else uses to protect their own computer / network. Not all lists we provide are suitable for everyone, but people have a choice.

We certainly don't block as much as some other blocklist maintainers.. Take a look at the categories for UrlBlacklist if you think we're extreme..

Well anyway, I wrote this guide a few years ago, it covers a lot of the FUD that people enjoy spreading around regarding blocklists. Sometimes it's intentional disinformation, sometimes it's just not knowing any better..

Its been proven time and time again that these block lists do nothing for security and hurt speeds. Its that simple. Your blocking valid users, you think your blocking IANA (as if its not hard to get a private IP block from an organization that large), etc.

Can you enlighten us about "who IANA are" (other than: "The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is responsible for the global coordination of the DNS Root, IP addressing, and other Internet protocol resources.")?

Admuncher can block Utorrent ads if they do decide to add them...

These are easy to turn off.

    Options > Preferences > Advanced >

In the search filter search for spon and find the result: offers.sponsored_torrent_offers and set it to false.

I know F7 hides the sidebar and 99% of the time I do have it hidden, but is there any way to hide the advert that is shown at the bottom of the sidebar when it is enabled?

Never mind... offers.left_rail_offer_enabled set to false removes the ad and changes it to upgrade to plus. gui.show_plus_upsel set to false removes it completely.
