I am not seeing diskpt0.sys in root of C. Maybe it's not created if one is using RAM as cache?

Used SD the last two weeks ... absolutly great software.

I asked myself, is there a way to create a batch-file (or similar) which i can doubleclick to make a partition in shadow mode immediately?

Now, i have to start SD, click on the left side "Mode" and then i can click "Shadowmode".
I wish to reduce these "clicks" ... Any idea?

Its hidden as Arcanez said. Take tick off Hide protected operating system files (recommended) in folder options to see it.

Yes, but the size that appears in Windows Explorer (currently 66 MB in my case) is different from the size shown in "Space Used by SD" in the SD interface (currently 407 MB). Why?

Thanks much for letting us know. Have installed on my laptop SSD and tried some simple things in Shadow Mode. Did not have the same problems as in previous version with trashing of Chrome and other things. In Shadow Mode, uninstalled CCleaner, rebooted back into Shadow mode and all was back again. Exited Shadow Mode and all seems fine but looking for others' feedback.

Thank you Tony for your fantastic efforts in updating your great program.

The diskpt0.sys file is not the buffer container itself. With other LV software that work at file system level (e.g Toolwiz TF) the user can actually see the buffer as a large file on the protected volume. SD works at disk sector level, it creates a hidden partition which actually contains the changes. I suspect that diskpt0.sys file is a simple sector map whose purpose is to keep track of changed sectors on the protected volume.

Regarding the new SD version: At last SSD compatibility plus a RAM buffer. I can now say that my SD wishlist is complete! Thank you Tone man!

yes the developer of Shadow defender is Chinese
but that is not any cause of concern or reason to be alarmed.
you can use the software without issues

    @all
does anyone know what exclusions should i set if i want to use Kaspersky Antivirus 2013?
    i set exclusions to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab
    C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab

however on exiting from Shadow mode Kaspersky reported that the database was corrupted, i am guessing it due to incorrect exclusions
can anyone help me solve this?

for the moment i am running Kaspersky updates only manually when system is in UnShadowed mode

    installed and working so far.:thumb:

Ok I got a System hang and applications kept crashing or didn't even load. I reset the Computer and now it's still working so far. Strange Thing maybe there are still some issues with TRIM but I have it turned on until I experience more Problems...

i've installed the new version. but an uninstall from the older is necessary becaus i got a message and the installation don't work.

    but now its fine :)

another idea would be to export an exception list to import them again easily at a new installation

I will still wait to let other SSD users try this new version before I do again but I got my fingers crossed. ;)

With the latest version I noticed the back up speed of Drive Snapshot was considerably slower. I noticed this occurred previously when Acronis was installed...I'm guessing a new driver?

Regarding the System hang that I experienced with the new Version: I think it was probably because TRIM kicked in. It was disabled before the Installation. It runs perfectly at the Moment.

So your saying that TRIM is active now and runs perfectly at the moment?

I had an unusual experience with Shadow Defender. I was in Shadow Mode and I downloaded and ran SecurityKiss VPN and TOR and Comodo Defense+ queried both these programs. Well when I left Shadow Mode, I found that records of both these programs were still in Comodo. How comes this has happened when surely I'd have expected their to be no record?

Looks similar to my experience in this thread

...maybe Comodo writes some data on other disk than C?

I believe that an old problem (that occured in quite a few earlier versions of Shadow Defender) has re-appeared in the new version Shadow Defender 1.2.0.355 and so I've reverted back to 1.1.0.325

The problem is one of losing settings not related to Shadow Defender that are suddenly re asking for permissions to connect etc.

I originally noticed this years ago when Nero would suddenly become unregistered and require re-registration
and various settings within (at the time) (AVG) antivirus would have changed
I noticed it also with other programs that seemed to go back to default settings as if I had not configured my firewall or the program itself.

This often happened after a reboot into Ordinary Mode from Shadow Mode and when I used one of my apps for the first time.

I was convinced at the time that this was a Shadow Defender problem because I was beta testing it at the time and tried most versions and it was only after the re-installation of Shadow Defender that (on occasion) these strange little glitches started happening.

In the case of the new version, today using 1.2.0.355 (but not in Shadow Mode) somehow my dcom settings were lost, both Sandboxie and Admuncher asked to make dcom connections when they have both previously been set not to.
I've only had the new version on for a day or so and been in Shadowed mode once just to test.
I have always used Steve Gibsons "Decombobulator" so I knew it was turned off and port 135. I've had conversations with Tony years ago about this and I don't think I suffered from it in 1.1.0.325 but I'd get it now and again in earlier versions.

My system is XP sp3, fat32, Sygate Pro 5.5 firewall, Firefox, two identical 250 drives, Avast Pro (running), Malwarebytes (on demand) Sandboxie (full), Admuncher (full) and adequate ram, modern-ish motherboard etc

My system is usually very stable and I'm convinced this is something to do with Shadow Defender.
I think it might be some sort of kernel driver conflict...maybe with Sygate?
Before anyone says anything, yes I know Sygate it an old firewall but I've been happily using it for years without problems :)

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has experienced similar problems before I contact Tony.

ps When I previously experienced these problems I had an entirely different system and pc.
Also other people in the past have experienced this, it's not just me.
