Thunderbird 17.0 stopped letting me print emails. I just set up a new system Windows 7 Pro, Eset Smart Security 5, and Thunderbird was working fine for the first week. Then today I can't print any emails. Everything else on the system will print, MS word, web browser Pale Moon, Pdf, etc. But when I try to print from thunderbird, I get "unknown error occurred while printing". That's it. I have opened it up in "safe mode" and still the same thing. Could it be something with Eset? or Something with Thunderbird? It worked great for a week, I don't even think we have had any updates to Win 7 or thunderbird in this week, so don't know what is causing this.

    Hello,

The antivirus of ESS controls the mails. No problem.

Unfortunately, ESET tries to integrate its antispam in the mailer. Very often, this integration does not work. It is a mistake to try to work this way.

ESET must create an antispam software which works upstream of the email software.

Although it's unlikely that ESET is the culprit, you can try disabling each of the protection modules to see if it resolved the problem. Eventually you can uninstall ESS completely and install it again after you make sure it's not involved at all.

Are you sure that the correct default printer is selected in Thunderbird? Sometimes it happens that a pdf printer, windows xps printer is selected instead of your normal printer. To solve it take a look here. A security product can't cause what you describe. The only that can happen is a e-mail software that is crashing, mails that can't be send,... .

Yes, default printer is set correctly in thunderbird. still doesn't work, may need to change email handlers. Any suggestions?

Ensure the printer spooler Service is fully started.

Please update your post at Mozillazine. I suspect that the root issue is Thunderbird and not your A/V software.

    Regards,
