As by title, I' looking for a power and deep antirootkit: Root Repeal, Gmer and Rootkit Revealer don't run on Seven, and I don't want simple tool as these of Sophos, F-Secure, Avira...

What about the tool from MBAM? It's evidently quite powerful. By the way, unless I was dreaming, I've ran GMER on my Win 7 x64 machine several times with not a hitch.

Never tried MBAM. I didn't run GMER because Root Repeal gives me a BSOD, and I read in the Web GMER too.

I think on a 64 machine some or all of the boxes are greyed out

I've been running MBAM Rootkit for about one month on Windows 7 X64 with no problems - seems to work well.

Thanks. :) I found some screenshot of it: it seems more like Sophos or similar antirootkit than like RR, Root Repeal or GMER. Is it ?

Here is my list I have been using (when needed) for quite a while:

    • Hitman Pro - general antimalware and good rootkit finder
    • GMer - anti-rootkit
    • Rogue Killer - antimalware and special anti-rootkit
    • Kaspersky TDSS Killer - special anti-rootkit
    • Malwarebytes' Anti rootkit - MBAR - antimalware and anti-rootkit (new)

Note, than on x64 versions of Windows there will some limitations because of the OS and the fact less malware can interfere with x64 Windows.

I've not tried this on an infected system yet,but based on the efficacy of MBAM,I'd wager it is highly effective.

In addition to those mentioned, Powertool is a very extensive one like Xuetr but has a 64 bit version as well.

Is XueTR, and his developer, trusted ?

Thanks kareldjag, I know your expertness :thumb: . Sorry, hope my post was not misleading: but some country today in the world, in the West as in the East, are engaged in cyber spying and botnet, and I couldn't find many references on XueTr.

Anyone has idea about RootRepeal why it has not been updated for win 7 or 8?

    Thanks

I think wekll known generic rootkit detectors for win 7 are mainly two:

    gmer and XeuTr.

My Bios is not bootable from USB Pen drive: I want to run programs like PowerTool, XueTr... from a bootable support . Which is the best ? WinBuilder ?
