it does pretty much cover what Adblock and Ghostery does.
not 100% but close enough for me to not need to add either AB or Ghostery.

perhaps the easiest way is to start whistelisting your favorite sites and start building a blacklist to help reduce the clutter, which helps a lot.

TDL, a forum member, has already built such a blacklist, which you can of course modify.

i can't find his post at the moment but here's a link to his list from my Skydrive folder:
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=EA8691778410F0B6!147

have a look at both the whitelist and blacklist and modify to your taste.

I was curious how MBAM would do with WSA, and so far no slowdown or problems, and I haven't set up exclusions yet with either one.

Windows 7 Ultimate x32 Lazy Admin setup using the build-in protection of the Windows OS (EMET, GPO, ACL, SRP, AppLocker, UAC), Chrome's build-in sandbox. Running Chrome incognito with click to play flash and allowing javascript only from COM and NL domains. Adhoc on-demand check with Hitman pro. Windows 7 Image backup and contineous (unattended) data backup to NAS.

Why did you disable Gdata firewall? I would leave it on and ditch private. Only to keep the cohesiveness of a suite. Zemana isn't really necessary either with Gdata's BB. MBAM you could probably set that to on -demand scans. Shadowprotect definitely. :thumb: Back-ups are a most.
Make sure that you configure sandboxie properly. Sandboxie (configured properly) and Gdata are more than enough. Take a look over in the sandboxie forum or here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=333004 for some sandboxie tips and setup.

I disabled gdata firewall coz private was more configurable I think and its HIPS. Not sure if gdata is hipso_O

yeah, I thought about mbam on demand daily scan.

what is gdata BB? not sure about its anti keylogging abilities.

I only sandbox firefox. thunderbird is used straight coz I found it inconvenient under sandboxie.

I thought that firefox was pretty much on par with chrome in the security stakes. updates come frequently. I'm usind noscript with it, and I forgot to mention that I do use WOT, so suspicious sites I come across get flagged.

I dropped the use of keyscrambler as zemana antikeylogger does the same thing.

Why do you find Thunderbird inconvenient under Sandboxie?

If its setup properly, it should work exactly the same as out of the sandbox. You ll be safer if you run TB sandboxed.

NoScript is the main reason why I use Firefox. If you like Firefox, keep using it and keep NS. I wouldn't trade my free NoScript for 99.99% of the paid programs that people talk about here. It makes Firefox a safer browser and cleans up your browsing of distracting stuff.

I'm with you on NoScript. I also use AdBlock Plus and between the two even trying to infect test computers with no security software installed is difficult.

Backups, Backups, Backups - you're probably more likely to be hit with an out of the blue hard drive failure than malware if you have all types of security software in place. These new infections that encrypt your data though are nasty if they get past your security software. No backup, sorry you're not getting your data back except in a few known variants.

And don't keep the backup drive connected at all times. After backup, disconnect the drive. A connected USB backup drive is just as much at risk as the main drive if one of the nasty infections hit, and don't connect it back until any infection is removed.

Is there a good backups thread on wilders like this "What is your security setup these days?" only for backups?
