    1. Does Ikarus have protection against infected domain names?
    2. Does it have heuristic?
    3. Does it have cloud?
    4. Does it slow down computer?
    5. Does it detect&clean bad registry entries?

    Thanks :argh:

    thanks for the answer. Regarding Point 1: it is also possible to use web.security with a dynamic IP. We create (depends on the Crowd) Users for the Account and each User has to run a password first when opening a webbrowser).

    free to try for 30 days.

    the "classical" scanner does not use a cloud.

    Ikarus has a good detection rate and is quite popular in Eastern European enterprises but its rate of False Detections is quite high too.
    last i heard, Ikarus AV was quite on the heavy side in terms of resource usage.

    well, I am going back to it. It simple to use and it works. I am tired of GUIs that take hours to decipher. Ikarus has proving time and time again it ranks at the top with Kaspersky and F-Secure and Bitdefender.

    Ziggy, I want to come home.:'(

    Too expensive for a simple antivirus.

    IKARUS anti.virus = EUR 40,80

    honestly, I don't care about price, as long as it works. I do understand though where it can be a issue, but Ziggy has shown his kindness by offering members here good discounts.

    For the newbies on Wilders, just to clarify:
    Usually for trjam .. "long" .. equals about one day, right? ;)

    But as we all know -> "the journey is the destination"! :D
    And of course ALL avatars want to be used, therefore the constant rotation. :D

    I really (!) like your deep feelings for AV software (could watch a movie about it! :D) and sincerely hope that once you will be happy for let's say a whole week with one AV solution so that you could take that lucky software with you into an intimate vacation. ;)

    But I understand ... other developers have pretty products too and temptation is nowadays really everywhere! :D

    Have a nice and secure Friday with Ikarus! :cool:

    +1 ...and during the x-mas discounts i bought a 5 year 1 PC license for about 15,-€. 3,-€/year isn't that expensive. :) One year may be heavy with 40,-€ but they offer great discounts, if you are willing to buy more years. For example, a 1 year license for one PC is 40,80€ but for 5 years 81,60€ this is what i would call a solid discount.

    I have licenses for nearly all known AVs out there and like trjam i keep up testing them. In the beginning Ikarus seems to be a bit heavy on my system however this was gone after a while, so i decided to make some rudimentary testings on the performance impacts. As i use my PC mostly for browsing, mail and lots of gaming I wanted to have a clear heart about the real impact during gaming.
    I did my benchmark testings with PCMark 7 (free version, fully patched) on a clean (no AV was installed before) Windows 8 64bit image (done with O&O soft). I have a Intel 3770K CPU with 8GB of ram and a 256GB SSD. All settings were left default and i did a system scan before benchmarking to let some caching systems kick in. I only tested the antivirus versions, so not the full suites! I did 3 benchmark runs and middled the results.
    Here my results:
    Without AV ->6144 points
    NOD32 AV 6.0.308 ->6086 points
    Ikarus AV 2.2.14 ->6121 points
    Vipre AV 6,2 beta ->5902 points
    F-Secure AV latest version ->6113 points
    Dr.Web 8 ->6072 points
    MS Defender ->6136 points
    I consider 60 points (1%) as a negligible difference and these results are only valid for my PC. However i would encourage everyone doing the same to just find out.

    I wish Ikarus was a little more interactive. I like the consistent high detection rates they achieve, but with the reputation for false positives a prompt for action during detection would be a welcome relief to this end-user. Aside from that, I like how they've so far avoided the trend for fluff and marketing that is plaguing other industry stalwarts. My AV of choice has been in flux recently due to this, so perhaps Ikarus will eventually find a place on my machine.

    Good Morning! 7anon...I've been using Ikarus for over six months and haven't received one FP yet...and as for pricing...Ziggy in Sales and Mktg at Ikarus has been very generous and supportive...in providing Wilders members with Appropriate pricing. Sincerely...Securon

    ... and somebody else won the Lottery.
    But independently from the two cases above, the poor results on VB tests remains.

    Can the Ikarus survive by selling products to Wilders members only or the whole world must subscribe in Wilders Forums? :p
