What Is Your Product Of The Year ?

A post in another thread here at Wilders referred to a software application as being a candidate for 'product of the year'.

I'm just wondering;

What is your software product of the year ?

Maybe your choice is because it served a particular need.
Perhaps your choice is for something that complimented and enhanced system operation or security.
Maybe your choice is for an application that just continues to get better.

My personal product of the year is Shadow Defender (best 35 bucks i've spent)
i use it to keep my system drive frozen at the same state for days,
no known malware can pass this virtual barrier and infect my system files easily

For me it's a toss-up between Avast Free and MBAM Pro for security (Which is what I'm assuming you're wanting to stick to.) . Neither are new kids on the block, but both have provided me with excellent security and performance. If I must choose just one, I'd give it to MBAM for just being that good.

 

for me it has to be Windows 8, I dont care what anyone else might say, it is actually the best OS by Microsoft by far, and I am not a M$ fanboy.

the deal clincher was the upgrade fee and general usability and speed improvements.

 

1 - Windows 8 (Pro or Enterprise), Windows Phone 8 and the new devices made to unlock their potential (such as Surface Pro and Lumia 920)

I really like all the improvements and advancements.


2 - SkyDrive

Still a great service, greatly improved this year, although I wish they still offered 25 GB of free storage for new accounts as well.

 

For me, Comodo Internet Security Premium

 

Shadow Defender is a good candidate since it's being actively developed again.

Sandboxie is always a worthy candidate.

Both products are the cornerstone of my security setup.

... but my vote would go to VT Hash Check. When I decided to go real-time AV'less at first I was a bit apprehensive about it. This product made that all go away, and allows me to enjoy the increased speed and stability that comes along with my setup, not to mention decreased strain on my hardware, without fearing I've left a gap open. A massive malware database no single real-time AV product can match for all new files being introduced to my system with no footprint. It's the glue that has held my setup together... otherwise I may have gone back, or decided to add a real-time AV again. Along with the Download Statusbar add-on for Firefox, this product was just what I needed.

 

Sandboxie... for providing a real sense of security, and for covering a multitude of mediocrity insofar as complementary security apps are concerned.
It shows up every day, does a superb job, and is overseen by an active developer.

1. AppGuard, because it is a cheap solution for near 100% protection even on 64-bit systems.

2. HitmanPro because it is light, fast, and has great detection rates.

Got rid of KIS which I had used for years & years. KIS was flipping out on occasion & I'd have to wait 1-5 minutes for it to stop scanning or whatever. Got sick of it. RIS is a dream come true.

Was using a freeware version of another shell program. Classic Shell is better in every way.

EaseUS Todo Backup Advanced Server is the best imaging program I've ever used. And the restore to different hardware option works every time.

This will be a good one. Believe it or not I bought Dell Professional Backup Software and I'm shocked at how well it works. Created backup DVD's and they restored without error. Installed the backup software on a clean install of Windows 8 and it created its own "clean factory image" to its own recovery partition. It did so without me prompting it to do so. Tested it to see if it would restore from the "clean factory image" and it did.

When I use "clean factory image" I mean that I wiped the drive clean removing dell's factory image. Dell's backup program took my clean install and placed it where the Dell's factory image once existed. So that's why I call it a "clean factory image." When it asks do I want to restore, the backup program calls it Dell's factory image, but it's my clean install. Cool.

Also made a clean restore image on USB, then successfully restored.
