I will keep watching as I go through different gyrations using my passwords etc and see if it comes back or develops again. Thanks

On my own system (Win7 Ultimate 32-bit) I have no problem, but I have a relative and on his XP SP3 system there is exactly this behavior showing with the latest build v8.0.2.96 and I can reproduce this as follows:

Running Firefox v18 (latest beta I think), if I switch focus from any other program on taskbar to the browser and then clicking (left mouse) into URL or Google search field and then entering whatever key ... this first key pressed isn't showing, never!

On that computer I recently uninstalled Avira Internet Suite 2013, so Webroot Secure Anywhere is the only AV-solution now. And I reinstalled Webroot new already. And no, I didn't verify by disabling Webroot (shut down) if this would cure the mentioned problem, WRSA being the "culprit". But this was because I was pretty sure someone wrote about this bug already in the past. - Maybe this bug was reintroduced recently again since it seemed to have been resolved in the past?

As with the double @@ problem I guess it could really be annoying if one is trying to enter asterisked password and not knowing why it isn't accepted. :( - But it is annoying anyway in all situations.

Please hunt this bug down and fix it, thank you.

Same problem as Tookerjeff here with first letter/number having to be repeated.

    Medion laptop W8x32 with WSA XX.96/FF 17.0.1

I could replicate the missing first character very easily:

    1) Open a web page (I used Chrome)
    2) Open Windows Calculator (I have a button shortcut on my keyboard)
    3) with the calculator in focus and the webpage in the background, the first digit I typed would not appear.

I could close and open the calculator several times until it started working correctly.

Thanks - we're going to be investigating this shortly and should hopefully have it corrected in the next build.

Let me know if you find anything else in the meantime!

I've found a few more for you. I'm testing Webroot as a possible AV solution for our company's dev machines. Some of our Microsoft keyboards have a calculator button, which launches the standard Windows calculator. When launched with that button, the Webroot tray icon displays a lock icon and says the foreground app is protected by Identity Shield. At this point, we cannot use the number pad for the calculator.

Also in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, there have been several times when writing code that the number pad will not function correctly. Whether the num lock is on or off, the numbers will not work, however the other functions of those keys will work. For example, normally the 1 key acts as the END key only when the num lock is off. But with Webroot Identity Shield running, the 1 key always acts as the END key even when the num lock is on.

    Any ideas?

For what it's worth, I am not having this mentioned problem. Using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 v1.0 keyboard. No problems with calculator button or the number pad here on Win7 Ultimate 32-bit german and WRSA Complete v8.0.2.96. JFYI.

I should probably state that the machine I've experienced it on is using a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 keyboard on Windows XP SP3 (32-bit).

No that problem here either (Logitech Media Keyboard 600), just duplicated certain characters if identity shield is active in Firefox (but not in IE10).

Found another one. On Windows 8 (64-bit), using Google Chrome, the Alt+D shortcut to select the address bar does not function correctly with Identity Shield on. Turning it off works fine.

I found one issue with identity shield. While I don't get the double character issue in IE10, it plays the warning sound (i.e. same sound that it would play while shutting down Webroot protection) for those characters that would double in Firefox.
