Still juggling between Chrome and Firefox (inc. it's 64-bit counterparts).

I lost my patience to keep bookmarks synced across different browsers. I'm now exclusively using Opera (natively portable) and its mobile variants.

New here and noticed this debate. I am trying to decide which browser to use/dedicate for banking and other online purchasing. Currently I use Opera because I can get it to eliminate all its settings when it closes (note I have to type my bank URL in due to this but then I consider that essential so no one can even know what my bank is). I am not sure is any other browser can do that.

Can I instantiate a new browser (say one is already open and being used for other things) and get it to use a new set of parameters and settings (i.e. a different .ini file)?

I use Firefox for web page testing (firebug) so could use that; Chrome for website (I volunteer for our VH Google website) so that opens in lots of preset tabs; IE for some IT work on a server (again preset tabs). Don't currently use Safari for anything.

Laptop protected by Symantec Endpoint 12.x.

I assume you don't use a trackpoint. IE6 was the last one that allowed true smooth scrolling with trackpoints. Every version since IE7 jitters like crazy (despite smooth scrolling enabled).
Although, IE10 is probably one of the more secure browsers and it feels more natural than Chrome or Opera.

Im taking opera for a test run and so far im very impressed. The integrated email client is a joy to use.I think opera is going to be a keeper as it is running as smooth as silk here and does not seem to be as heavy as the rest plus i have a few of my favourite extensions installed too.WOT and ADBLOCK.:thumb:

Opera is less intensive on CPU than Chrome. On my set up it was by far the fastest browser out of the big 5 (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari)

Chrome. Surprised Firefox is so high; I thought the frequent releases now that break add-ons turned a lot of people away from it...

I use for a long time the beta version of Firefox and I am impressed how after every update my rather old system is working always snappier than before. Of course it helps very much to run Webroot Secure Anywhere as an AV (it doesn't probably get "lighter" than this) and also Process Lasso does it's thing, but for sure Mozilla made firefox much better in the past months. - So I delay buying new hardware again, also of course thanks to windows 8 and it's hybrid GUI disaster. :thumbd: - I don't trust google more than I have to, so my favourite browser is in 2012 (and probably also in 2013) without any doubt:

    Firefox beta! :thumb:

p.s.: Especially I do like that I can prevent firefox writing it's cache to my SSD, sadly not all browsers seem to be able to do that. And yes, I like all those FF addons which are probably the main reason I won't ever switch. ;)

FireFox 17 for surfing, IE10 w/Smart Screen Filter for downloads....both seem about the same speed-wise.
Use Chrome on my android tablet.

Download and internet connection strength are a big factor when used in conjunction with how fast a browser operates and renders pages.

Good Evening ! Currently favouring Opera...a superb browser...and Safari...very stable. Used to use Firefox and Chrome... Firefox way to many updates of a dubious nature...buggy...Chrome too invasive in a data mining way. Sincerely...Securon
