Trend Micro actually did the best, with only 1 compromised instance.

Qihoo, even with 5 engines, had no false-positives, just 1 user-dependent instance!

 

Kaspersky, Qihoo, G Data, F-Secure, Bitdefender and TrendMicro all over 99% of protection rate

 

Trend micro has improved exponentially in the last 2 years it seems
but sadly improved protection also means Trend Micro is not the lean mean machine it used to be back in 2004 (it was my first internet security suite)

 

i dont ever remember trend being light weight lol. always been crazy heavy for me. worst i would say was about 2-3 years ago they are lighter now than they used to be imo still way to much for me.

 

oh and what engines do Qihoo use?

 

was it heavier than Bitdefender on a bad day?

 

at least as much if not worse imo.

 

Even titanium was really heavy. I believe it was running around 115K and was slowing down browsing and opening files. So much for cloud computing.

 

Trend antivirus seems very light here.Must have been a change recently because i tried it about 6 months ago and this time it runs great.I had been using Bitdefender antivirus but this has no bugs.

Webroot walks away with merely a "tested" label; yikes. And so soon after I purchased a year subscription. I think I still have a couple weeks left to cancel so I might look into something else...

 

the only reason for that is due to the user dependent choices. had those been automatically blocked they would have been near the top. im not the one sticking up for them here i understand why they scored what they did though.

 

Note that their actual scores, considering the user-dependent choices are not that bad and they do okay at AV-test; so the product itself must be of a decent enough standard. For that reason, if you like the product and Webroot's support is to your liking, do continue using it.

 

I wonder does 'user dependent' mean like...default settings? The program sets itself up in a 'set-it-and-forget-it' manner during install, and when I checked where the security sliders were they seemed all on the low end of the heuristics side. I adjusted most to medium.

As you know perfectly these are cumulative results. WSA has introduced since October a new 0day protection mechanism and if you take those results into account then performance is in line with top-tier products (i.e. 99%). And if you want to react on the issue of "user dependent", this has already been addressed above.
