First let me say that I know that the answer to my question is here somewhere, but I sure couldn't find it. Anyway, as I write this, I have 377 days left on my BD IS 2013 license left. My son today gave me an unopened BD IS 2012 2yr. that he didn't use because he gets another AV through his work. Question, if I applied that license to my current license, would that give me an additional 2 years?

No you wouldn't. You will lose the remaining days on your existing subscription if you just enter the new key. What you should do in such a scenario is contact BitDefender customer services; they should be able to merge the two licenses for you so that you get 2 years extra on your existing license.

OK just what I thought. It's alright I'll put it on my bookshelf until later next year. Thanks for the answers.

Yes that is true. I perspnally cpntacted BitDefender support last moth asking them if I can use a license I got from 2009 / 2010. License was confirmed active and can be used for the 2013 version. So once you have an unused BitDefender license the start is when you actually use it. Better use u the remaining days of the license and later install the license from your son.
