I have written to (e-mailed) Tony today Wed 28 Nov 2012
here is the e-mail I sent (verbatim)
I'm posting it to show members that I have asked the questions.
Some of these questions I have asked previously.

    .....................................

    Hi Tony,
Thanks for your reply, I'm glad that the e-mail is now working.
Members have asked me to enquire about Yesshield. Is it the same as Shadow
Defender? Is it made by you or have you licenced it out to someone else as
a sort of re-named Shadow Defender? The members and users are worrying
about it because it is very similar.
A lot of people are unhappy that you have not spoken on the forum because
you were unavailable for a long period of time and
some of them believe that you are not the person that originally made
Shadow Defender and don't feel secure.
Is there any way that you could give me some sort of explanation as to
what has happened? That would really help members feel more secure about
the future of Shadow Defender and to know that you are the legitimate
    owner and developer?
I don't like to ask these things but this is turning into a big problem.
To feel secure, the Shadow Defender users need to know who you are and
that the product has not been hijacked by thieves or hackers.
If you could post something on Wilders forum that would be very good.
If you let the members get to know you, I believe that it will really
help Shadow Defender and the future development of the product.
I am saying these things for the best reasons and I hope that you accept
that I have your interests at heart.

    best wishes

currently running SD 1.2 on Windows 8x64 + Crucial M4 with TRIM turned on. No Problems so far. I have turned on Memory buffer mode.:thumb:

I just made a backup with MacriumReflect while the Memory buffer was turned on. When the backup started everything was written into Memory of course. Just before the Memory buffer Limit was reached I noticed a very slow Transfer rate from MacriumReflect (~50mb/s) and the time remaining went up to 1 hour...When the buffer was full Shadow Defender continued to write the rest of the backup on the harddisk and I noticed a huge increase in Speed from macriumreflect. Seems like SSD is still faster than my Memory :D

What would be an optimal setting for an old laptop running xp svc pack 3 with 1 gig memory?

As mentioned in post #1535, I believe that depends largely on the number (and size) of drives/volumes being protected with Shadow Mode. Allocating more than 500MB with your configuration may compromise system stability whereas more than 256MB could affect overall system performance. Remember, if SD needs more than you allocate it will 'swap to disk' and continue doing its job. ;)

Quick report on new SD running on my Thinkpad x220 laptop with Windows 7 Pro x64, Sandboxie Paid (no ramdisk used) and Appguard.

For some reason, after I exit from shadow mode and restart, my Chrome settings are messed up and it says Chrome cannot recover. This does not happen when I substitue Deep Freeze For SD. Was using the memory cache set at 4096 MB since I have 12 GB of ram. TRIM enabled on my MSSD. For now, this version cannot be on my production machine and I really miss this program. Anybody seeing anything like this. I ran through two different installs of SD after restoring two clean images that had no SD. Thanks much.

This question probably has already been asked but due to search terms being to short for my question, I cannot find an answer. Does SD modify the mbr? I ask because I use software to prevent mbr modification and I need to know before I install SD and give it a trial.

I have been using SD since it was a new v.324, and a year ago I installed RollbackRx that i understand couldn't tolerate a change in the mbr. Therefore I don't think SD modifies the mbr. I just took the new version for a spin using 2000mb of memory and there's no problems.

you will have to decide what constitutes "proof" for yourself. DNA, First born??

For me, I am satisfied and that is darn good enough. SD is working very well with Windows 8.

puff, I don't think so. I know it protects it from viruses and crap messing with it.

Just bought 3 licenses. Right now I have it installed alongside Appguard without any issues. Is that setup sufficient?

Thanks! I think I'm going to give the laptop a memory upgrade and then see what happens.

I experienced some issues running SD 1.2 on Windows 8 x64. When I booted my Computer and entered the Password the startpage didn't load for some reason. Then I logged off again and logged back in immediately and everything ran normally for some reason. Also I couldn't make Windows Defender run besides Shadow Defender. Signatures were always deleted by shadow Defender after a restart although I exluded the signature Folder from shadow mode.

In Total Commander my shortcut Icons were gone when I logged on my Computer. All that occured only sometimes but I noticed there was something not working properly. Maybe some bugs I don't know....

Also I protected a 3TB HDD as well as a 500GB HDD and a 128GB SSD...Memory buffer went up very fast while protecting all those at once....

Will see if I try it out later again....Hopefully I can make it run flawless on my Windows 8

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just tried SD 1.2 again and it still takes quiet long to load the startpage after user login. I get like a blank page that says "Start" in the top left corner. The icons are loaded very late. Might just have to do with Shadow Defender putting the drives into shadow mode on boot. But I hope they could increase performance just a bit.

Windows defender may store its update information in registry. You have to update Windows defender out of shadow mode or you should commit all changes before shutdown or restart to save the downloaded updates. It is the same case for shortcuts also. You can't commit or exclude a registry entry change.May be use SD on demand.

I watched the registry and there's an entry called "Signature Location" that mentions the path C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Definition Updates\*

I exluded that Folder but signatures are gone after a restart....

for the x64 Version VT says "Symantec WS.Reputation.1".....

That's exactly the same detection that I get when I scan Deepfreeze executable file. Both use the same Driver I guess (diskpt0.sys). I think they both function very similar

Was it a boot after shadow mode? When leaving Shadow mode always use shutdown and not the hybrid restart feature of Win8.

€: Yes I tried the new build and found no abnormalities. Nevertheless some scepsis remains, I'm hoping Patrick gets an answer cause Trjam's posting has no proof for outstanding people. A little bit strange: Perfect english localisation and new helpfile in good english, but the author argues to be a bad english speeker and thatswhy no answers. So maybe someone helps him with translation of HP and program, but why this person doesn't help in communicating essential questions? Strange...

I just set shadow Defender to shadow mode on every boot. Then I simply restarted Windows 8 just normally...It just takes quiet Long to load the start page for some reason. It works but the Performance on boot is quiet bad...
