After trying everything on Gizmos (from where I took the current list) I found myself with two options: MPC-HC and SMPlayer.

These couple of players share the same qualities; low resources, good sharpness of image, ease of usage, stability...

I finally decided on SMPlayer because the UI is more configurable.

There's always VLC on the background for whatever can't be read by SMP (like ISO files).

    So, what's your default player?

I use PotPlayer. Have tried KMPlayer, MPC etc and PotPlayer had the best feature set for me and the most options.

VLC is my default player for everything. Just because it's lite weight and plays everything that is thrown at it.

I use SMplayer. It handles just about any video I throw at it, and is very fast at skipping between parts of a video.

However on one of my machines I use ALShow - Korean media player put out by the same company that publishes Roboscan.

WMP for Windows media files, VLC for everything else (Real, QuickTime, FLV formats), with SMPlayer for the few odd files that won't play in VLC. I like VLC the best of the three because of its handy screenshot and record tools.

Windows Media Player with LAV Filters

If I want something more, KMPlayer has been my 2nd option.

Standalone MPC-HC x64 without any codecs. I preferred VLC for years, but lately it is lagging with many video files, especially original DVD movies.

I also have a dedicated media machine running XBMC through the TV.

GOM Player for me. the only one actually.i have nothing else on my PC.only once had a problem with it saying that it can`t play a file, but immediately after went online and downloaded the codec it needed and played the file.so why use another player when this is simply greta? small in size, low mem usage, plays allmost all kinds of file and if not it downloads the appropriate codec. simply great!not going to switch to something else ever.
dvd/bluray types - i have no idea if they work or not. never downloaded those kinds of files.
    :thumb: - gom player!

MPC-HC (32-bit) using LAV Filters (and DC-DSP Filter with Winamp DSP Enhancer 0.17 when in speaker mode) and auto-loading mode of xy-VSFilter (for subtitles).

I'm still satisfied with Windows Media Player, so I didn't try other players yet.
