I would like to ask a very simple question what antivirus i should choose (free or buy) to accompany Sandboxie the best?
(note: I am not looking for a complete security suite only Antivirus)

MSE is locking Sandboxie from time to time and cannot delete the contents of a sandbox, at least from my point of view and experience

John, I also think MSE is the best companion for SBIE if you are using Windows 7/8. I don't know of anyone using that combo that's having problems. In your case, having trouble to delete the sandbox sometimes, it might be do to another software that's locking the sandbox when is time to delete contents.

When MSE came out for the first time, there was a conflict with SBIE but after it got fixed, both softwares have been getting along well ever since as far as I know. There is a software compatibility setting in SBIE for MSE, make sure it is enabled.

On XP, I don't know whats the best at this time.

Right now I'm using Webroot's SecureAnywhere AV and I'm really impressed with it. It's the fastest AV I have ever used.
They have Cyber Monday deals right now, so if you hurry you can get it for 10$ :)

I don't want to push Avira in any way, but on my system (Vista Ultimate32) they are co-existing very well, no conflicts or slowdowns (there was a problem with version 2012 when it first came out, it has been fixed since).

MSE is a fine choice there. Friends are using it. Have not personnaly used that combo though. Have paired AvastFree (or Avira Free) +SBIE + CIS(or Online Armor Free) and there was no issues whatsover. Tried the beta version of WSA back with SBIE paid and it's was okay too. I still have the AvastFree with CIS and SBIEfree in an xp machine here no issues.

The best thing to do is try it out and see what will you like. Facebook has 6 month offers for WSA, Kaspersky Pure, Panda, Trend Micro, Norton etc. Got 1 for WSA and KasperskyPure :)

    Goddluck :)

One of my computers is running sbie with Roboscan (with firewall enabled) and Zemana Antilogger. No problems or slowdowns, low resource use and excellent protection.

Paid: I've use Eset Nod 32 AV for years alongside Sandboxie on my desktop computer and they run smooth as silk.

Free: Over the past year I've installed Panda Cloud AV on two laptops alongside Sandboxie. Very satisfied and I don't plan on changing that set up either. Never any glitches.

Edit: Desktop = WinXP Pro. Laptop #1 = WinXP Home. Laptop #2 = Win7 Home Premium.

I don't see any reference to which operating system you are using.

I have no experience (outside of a couple of very brief trials) with Windows 8.
If you are running Windows 7 or XP, perhaps no antivirus at all- only Sandboxie with Malwarebytes Pro and Applocker or Mamutu.

Sandboxie doesn't need to be a consideration when choosing an antivirus. As you can see from the range of responses you've received, any of them should work because the sandbox is only a folder in the file system which any antivirus is capable of accessing while Sandboxie is active. Just make sure that you enable any software compatibility setting that Sandboxie advises in relation to your chosen antivirus and you should be fine. One thing to bear in mind if considering WSA is that Identity Shield won't operate on a sandboxed browser. Apart from that one limitation, WSA should work okay as an antivirus with Sandboxie.

Using Emsisoft Anti-Malware on Windows 8 with Sandboxie without any problems.

Also use MSE and Sandboxie on XP without any problems.

I would recommend avast over MSE to be honest. Its lighter and protects more than MSE.

While I've never tried Avast, I find MSE to be very light. o_O

I'm with Beethoven. Can't get much lighter than Avast. Especially if you strip it down to the file guard. Also MSE NEVER wins any medals for Virus/malware detection whereas AVAST is nearly always fighting for a podium finish.

I'm going to have to throw in my vote for WSA. I have it running with sandboxie and comodo firewall. It's about as light as I've been.

Some people are saying this AV over that AV because of whatever reasons, their personal likings. But that fact is Sandboxie should play nicely with any AV, pick any AV you wish and check the Sandboxie compatibility settings.

As this is a "Which AV is best?" thread, I'm surprised that it hasn't already been closed as per TOS.
