Avast!'s webshield has never caused slowdowns for me. Also, shouldn't these posts be put in a separate thread?

Just remember before you criticise comodo that it is a beta and users were clearly warned that there would be some issues so dont complain if you experience some.
If you have better ideas for the interface then submit then to the comodo forum where there is a suggestions thread currently running. They cant please everyone with the interface so you cant complain about that.:cautious:

sorry avast gets no info either,as well as any others that I can limit. after all thats what we are all here for is to keep tracks to a minimum.
and no program gets to call home or keep track of me that I can stop and I do not send things to cloud to check .

and on subject yes comodo is ok,tho issues they have had since 3 have still not been fixed. like telling the difference between local lan and internet. remember selected actions and a lot more.
tho for the price if set right it cannot be beat. look forward to the final and gave up thinking they will fix the issues.
but it is not the be all end all and I just use firewall and d+.

    Hello,

As i am one of the Comodo fan, i tested their latest Beta (v6) on Windows 8 RTM.

After some usage pc totally crashed, collected information and restarted.
Then after that tried same Comodo version on Windows 7. All was good. Installation, scanning and updating went well.

I Hope that they can fix their problems on Windows 8.
For me Windows 8 is now must have operating system, mainly because of speed and performance.

    Regards,
    Kardo

As a matter of fact, I frequent torrent/pirating websites quite often. Since each of us applies a different approach to securing our systems and networks, I can no say I've had the same problems with NoScript, except when granting temp permissions to the wrong folks. I'd say these kinds of mistakes have influenced and refined my approach. I do not necessarily share your concerns about using an alternative DNS and I do not reject 3rd party support when checking electronic content for malicious intent. This still does not change my opinion that website blocking is needless for my personal needs. Most people want security that has all the bells and whistles expecting it to be convenient and easy to use. Personally, I prefer security applications that nag excessively because they keep the user alert and active. If I wanted convenience, I would of went with a Mac.

The cosmetic appearance of an application should be of little concern as long as the product/service does exactly what it's expected to do, there is adequate customer/product support and the layout can be navigated with out a 1000 page instruction manual. I'm serious about this last one ... if it takes me three days to find the manual posted on your site or hidden in your support forum. Nothing wrong with expecting companies to get their cards in order before the product reaches the market.

What kind of work are you doing that you see such a performance difference from Win7?

    Hello,

    Main work is programming.

Big difference is in updates, Windows 8 updating is silent, no notifications. If you are using Windows 7 then you may see a lot of updates and notifications.
Also it require many restarts to complete updates installation.

My computer also started to make very annoying noise with Windows 7 - but not with Windows 8. Also a lot of useful programs for me works very well on Windows 8.

Computer boot up (start up), shut down and hibernate speed is dramatically increased, and that is one of the main reason why I use Windows 8 now.

Startup, shut down and hibernate takes just about 4 seconds on my computer.

P.S. Windows 8 clean installation takes just about 10 minutes. It is a lot faster than with Windows 7.

    Regards,
    Kardo

New beta should be out very soon.
It was delayed because Sandy and snow storm made an impact on Comodo infrastructure.
AFAIK, Beta updates AV definitions but program updates are temporarily disabled.

Have to say it's running really well over here on a win7 64 sp1 machine. I've used Comodo's security suite off and on over the years and I like this one the best. It was hard at first getting used to the gui but it's starting to grow on me. It has come a long way since the 2.4 firewall days. :D

What were his IE active X settings, normally unsigned (unsafe) are not allowed to execute, does not Comodo has a setting for this also? So can't imagine that Comodo does not protect against these obvious points of entry (running a script, installing Active X). Going under the radar as shown would be to easy.

Not a fan of Comodo, but without explanation on the bypass, it is a questionable showcase on youtube IMO (just another "scarry test" in which context is unclear).

Now I got what you mean. I must say that first time when I tried CIS it was 3.5. I tried it several times and couldn't endure it more then a week - incessant popups was unbearable. Next time when I resolved to install it was CIS 5.3. It was much better in this respect. AFAIK this is the result of whitelisting.

There are other ways to kill comodo (and other progs) even from user mode, cause of buggy drivers. All documented at kernelmode.info and for Comodo even linked in their own froum. Reaction - no.
