What is your security setup these days?

If you are not seeing any problem, use them together.

If you experience problems, disable Identity shield for normal every day use. During banking session, do it outside SBIE with Identity shield enabled.

Thats what I would do if I wanted to use both programs.

The Identity shield disabled didn't seem to work for me. I still had the frozen firefox browser.

 

You have almost the same setup as I do.
I can advise you to put an anti-executable.
My choice is NVT EXE Radar Pro (it is one time fee and more convenient than AppGuard...for Faronics and VoodooShield you have to pay year after year).

 

I have no problems so far using Sandboxie and WSA with ALL shields up. I hope it will stay that way

BTW, I'm using Chrome. It might be Firefox + SBIE problem?

Laptop Users: What kind of battery drain could you expect from running all these programs? Do you have a more slimline security approach to a laptop system vs a desktop?

Webroot is by far one of the lightest on system resources..

 

I've never once encountered a problem with it...but, after reading on here for a while I thought I'd switch up my setup if I found something better.

 

Would you recommend a suite in lieu of multiple programs on a laptop for purposes of conserving battery life or do you think it would be unnoticeable ?

 

Some believe layered security is the best and others a Suite will suffice. I layer mine, just something I like to do.

With the 3 programs I'm using, it's very light on my system. I'm trying out Exploitshield just to see how it does.

 

Giving G Data Internet Security a run...haven't used it in over a year. Despite the size, it runs pretty light. Couldn't pass up the deal of 3 -pc's <$20.

 

I got curious and installed WSA under TTF to see how it works along Sandboxie. It feels pretty good (W7 32bits), even with Identity and Web shield enabled I did not experience anything wrong during the "two hours" that I tried the program. I used IE9 and Firefox17.

kjdemuth, I got nothing but SBIE over here, maybe one of the other programs that you are using is causing a problem. I know there is supposed to be a conflict so I am kind of surprised that I did not experience anything wrong. Maybe its fixed if there was a conflict in the past.

Hmm, the lightest setup I could think of is using the built-in security measures of the OS.Uing a limited/standard user account may increase security plus EMET with a dash of Sandboxie. I'm pretty sure you'll be all set

 

Yeah I had long conversation with Joe in the Prevx sub-forum. He explained it very clearly. There is nothing that the Webroot team can do to solve the compatibility issue. Only Tzuk can do it. It is because of the way sbie works. It tightens up apps. In this case the browser. Identity and Web Threat Shields won't work inside the sandboxed browser and this is a thing on the sbie part. This is what it's supposed to do. Tighten things up. For every app in the compatibility list of sbie Tzuk has to let go of some of sbie's security knots. Loosen it up a bit.

Emsisoft Antimalware when configured to show alerts and blocking ads automatically will do nothing when browser is sandboxed even though EAM is checked in the compatibility list. But it shows alerts and blocks ads when browser is not sandboxed. Other than this tiny feature, all other features of EAM works fine in a sandboxed browser when it is added in the sbie's compatibility list. This proves that even sbie is not fully compatible with EAM. And that's fine. This is how sbie works and this is as far as it can stretch itself to allow and on-access scanner to gain access to the sandboxed browser.

No need to disable and enable Identity Shield and Web Threat Shield. Just leave them enabled. They just would not work inside the sandboxed browser. Other than this no problem whatsoever. No need to worry. And as Bo suggested Banking session could be carried out in an unsandboxed browser.

 

This could be a different problem altogether. Did you report it to the Prevx sub-forum or better yet report it to the WSA support inbox? IS not working and FF being slow is not connected as far as I'm concerned. I've used WSA with sbie and FF starts and runs just fine. IS and Web Threat Shield do not work but no freezing whatsoever.

 

Of course it will stay that way. The shields don't work. But they don't cause any probs. The shields just slide around the box. Don't actually hit the box. So no worries.

It could be an isolated case dependent on a particular system/setup.
