Very poor showcase by avast!...

Interesting test, and it shows that you can never be sure if your system is clean after infection, these are all widespread samples and all detected on-demand by the tested products but there is not one who could completely remove all active infections, not even in safe mode, with special utilities or a rescue disk.

 

Not my criterion to choose an AV, one tiny little suspicion of an infection and a quick restore will settle all my worries, but Kaspersky and Bitdefender seem to be unbeatable in all departments of security nowadays.

Bullguard did a pretty good job , not as good as Bitdefender but not bad.

 

Bitdefender, 94 points.
GData (Bitdefender plus Avast), 72 points.

Makes no sense.

 

It would make no sense if GData included absolutely all the features of Avast and Bitdefender. It just uses their scan engines.

No surprises from BitDefender and Kaspersky.

Good job Panda Cloud, surprised actually.

Of course their testing methodology doesn't seem real-world.

 

We were apparently not included in this test, although I don't know why.

 

Didn't noticed it at first but Panda Cloud indeed did really well.

 

Avast looks bad..well, it is bad in this test. But I'd much prefer having great blocking than great removal. No infection means not worrying about cleaning anything up. Panda did fantastic here, but I don't recall their latest results on keeping malware off in the first place.

 

removal is futile - get a boot media for cleaning root and setup from scratch with better protection. latest ukash was still not broken, files stay encrypted. admin first 3 rules - backup, backup and backup. HTH

 

I disagree that removal is futile. I've had success many times cleaning out some heavily bombed systems for others. Depending on the malware you might be pulling hairs out by the end, but it can be done. Of course in some cases that's obviously not true. Malware is getting smarter and less willing to leave its home once it moves in.

 

Nice job Panda seems the work in the latest version have paid off in this area.

 

Avast is fine. PUPs is off by default. Enabling PUPs will remove such things as rogues.

 

I don't fully understand this. Rogues are not PUP's for me but UP's.
Or do I miss something?

 

Don't be so optimistic. Stuff tested here was by far not a PUP. Enabling PUP wouldn't make much difference if any...
