I posted the following over at the Kingsoft forum, but I wanted to make sure it's seen, so I'll post it here too:

Thanks for the update. I have a serious suggestion. Can you please add a setting to "Never show again" the scheduled scan warning pop-up that displays in the lower right corner prior to the start of the scheduled scan. Also, can you please add "Don't show UI when scheduled scan is in progress". Right now the scheduled scan is very intrusive, especially for those of us that like to schedule a quick scan daily.

ok actually it updated itself on my windows 7 pro 64bit ( you really need it to popup and say it just updated or if i did not come here I would never had known it updated)- it did not ask for a reboot or anything either
Umm- I cannot find where to schedule a scan
Can you tell me where it is?
I am booting up my windows 8 and reinstalling it
I will let you know in a few minutes its results

so far no red icon in windows 8 32bit
I do not have a win 8 64bit to test it since i upgraded 2 machines that had 32bit on them already

    ok i found the scheduler
    it is in utilities
I think it should sit on top as a main icon
One should not have to hunt for it

also i posted in your forum about the orange question mark still showing up if you want to allow something you know is not a virus, i posted that here before but it is still not fixed. I showed you pics on your forum site

This really needs to be fixed because when looking at the main page it looks like there is a virus or trojan still there
I do not care but my clients will freak out and call me claiming they have a virus when they actually do not

I am going to add to Dbone :)

I would like it close automatically if it finds no virus
I actually like it when it shows up scanning in front of you (for beginner users) but yes it should have an option to do it this way or Dbone's way (for more advanced users)

also when it pops up the box that it is going to do a scan, you can click on Ignore
But this ignore shuts off the scan

So this is a bit confusing

Should Ignore- just close the box and it continues to do its scan
or should Ignore shut down the scan?

I think the Ignore should just close the box and continue to do the scan

Is this SP 5.4 the 2013 version in English?

    No.
It would say so in the Changelog.

I quite like the quick release cycles of KAV. It's quite unusual but seems to work for them.

What scan engine does Kingsoft AV use?
    is it made in house?
is there any advantage if i download the whole local database?

is Kingsoft Antivirus compatible with my security set up?
    1)Avira 2013 Antivirus premium
    2)Comodo Firewall

I think Avira engine will be completely included in 2013 version.

Funny, its downloading Avira def's in my copy....It has since 3.2....I think Avira would have mentioned a 'start' date if it wasn't already implemented.

It's not. Only offline version has the AVIRA engine. Normal regularly updated version only uses Kingsoft in-house engine...

I would like the scan to be able to be hidden and only show if a threat found.

does anyone run this on its own?

After reading all the posts, this looks promising.

I'm looking for a light AV for my aunt since she has Vista and only 2gb of ram. Also looking for another free one for myself and for my mom on her laptop. Avast seems to really be slowing things down (my desktop had clean install a little over a year ago). I asked my mom a few weeks ago if she's noticed any slowdowns on her laptop and she said yes, guessing it's because of Avast.

However I just started reading on Cloud security. Someone on this forum, TheWindBringeth asked a few good questions about this:

What information is sent back to the cloud?

    1) The sending of actual URLs,
    2) The sending of file pathnames,
    3) Tagging cloud lookups/submissions with a GUID.Features can be implemented in various ways and there is considerable potential for adjustment to achieve different balance points. We know that URLs and pathnames can/do contain sensitive and even personally identifiable information. When checking for malicious URLs, a hash based approach can be used to avoid sending the actual URL. When checking local program files where file location is important to the equation, the cloud lookup can contain hash+KnownFolderId rather than hash+FullPathName. Malicious URL and File lookups can be sent without the machine/user GUID. Etc.

I think he made some good points. Can you address these please?

If Cloud based services don't hash these things and just put them in plaintext then there's no reason to use TOR or similar services, or even that HTTPS Everywhere and HTTPS Finder addons for Firefox.

I use Kingsoft Antivirus since 2 weeks and I noticed it slowed the launch of Firefox and Windows Explorer unlike others cloud antivirus. I'm on Windows 7 x64.

what is the difference from the download where you click on the Button Free Download and where it says
Full Download (Local Virus Lib Integrated)
also this one is only version sp 3.5 where the other one is sp4
this one does not have scheduled scans in it either
I put it on another machine and I would like to understand what the difference is and why?
    thanks
