    Cleaning a HDD

Is there a shortcut method to securely erasing data on a used - empty HDD rather than e.g. 1TB HDD x Gutman (35 passes) method?

Seeing as how nothing on the disk needs to be saved, is there a way of 'nuking' it to save valuable & resources?

    There are also:

    1. The hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics which usually has an option to write zeros to the hard drive.

    2. Terabyte's CopyWipe.

    3. MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable CD.
