Still in beta though, I found it earlier and thought I'll share it here.

This sounds great. Have you tried it? I'm currently running Windows 8 RP in a VM. I'll see if it will work with that.

I prefer Classic Shell. Its made Windows 7 a pleasure for me to use. And I like the Windows 95/98 Classic Start Menu a lot! :thumb:

Startisback! is nice but not so polished as Startdock Start8. Startisback! interface is pretty similar to Windows 7 start menu while Start8 fully integrates with the Windows 8 UI.

The developer, Tihiy has done some amazing work. His Revolutions Pack solved/mitigated most of the resource issues on Win 98. He was also involved in KernelEx. Strange as it might sound, this is one of the very few times that I wish I had Win8.
Barring some form of direct interference from MS, this will be good. Don't underestimate the group over there. My PCs thrive on some of the developments found at that forum.

    i'm fine using Metro start.

just a matter of using it for a few days and it becomes second nature after that.

Anyone notice this idea in the SIB thread over there? Looks good to me.

Wow seems like there will be a new market for Windows Start Menu Add-ons. :D

I like it better than the Start Menu.

I hope they do submit SIB to the store, publicize the results, and keep the pressure on. Make MS either listen to their customers or explain why they won't.

Me too. Classic Shell makes it so much easier for me.

i hope this is not too off topic but i found a cool new tip:
if you are using Metro, hover in the lower left corner to show the Metro Start and right-click on it for a whole bunch of quick links to often used System features. :thumb:

right, of course. my bad. :ouch:

anyway, i think people should give Metro a chance for about a week before installing some 3rd party app.

That's what I did. Wiped 7 off, put 8 on, got aggravated for a few days, and now it's my main system. Metro and all. Of course, I still keep Linux Mint on for the fun of it.

At first I was apprehensive regarding the new Start screen in Windows 8 but after playing around with it for a while I grew to love it. Now, the Start button seems so archaic in comparison. :\

I personally prefer Stardock Start8. Blends in a lot nicer with the general look and feel of Windows 8. Classic Shell is also good as a Free alternative, though I personally did not mind paying a small fee for Start8.
