    Thanks for the heads up!

"BSOD’s caused by network applications operation in fast networks are fixed"
I wonder if this has something to do with p2p programs?

VirusBuster no longer exists as the technology was acquired by Agnitum on August 16th and VirusBuster ceased support on October 1st. It's not clear if the beta includes any enhancements to the anti-malware engine but as Agnitum haven't included that in the changelog I would think that the answer to your question is no. However, the reason Agnitum wanted to acquire the technology was because they want to develop it in ways that was not possible under the previous arrangement with VirusBuster so you can be sure that there will be enhancements in the pipeline but when these will be announced we shall have to wait and see but hopefully soon.

I thought I covered that in my previous post. Agnitum haven't mentioned the anti-malware engine in the changelog so I guess the answer to your question is no. I should also mention that this is a 'firewall' thread and the anti-malware engine is not included in the firewall, only in the AV and Security Suite products.

The announcement is actually about three products: the firewall, the suite which includes the AV engine and the stand alone AV.

It's pretty good but I prefer the suite. It's a nice integrated solution and the AV has been performing pretty decently in third party tests. I'm a pretty happy camper with it.

This new beta version is performing very well on my 32bit Win7 system. I've had it running for six days and haven't come up with one bug yet.

I wouldn't say it's abandoned but certainly they are behind in being updated compared to the paid product. Their purpose, of course, is to bring in customers to the paid product. So they just give a taste of what is possible. Nevertheless, they actually perform very well in their category and anyway I doubt there's an enormous demand for free firewalls on Win 8 at the moment.

What the heck does "Windows 8 support" mean?

Outpost Pro vers. 7.6 (3984.639.1842) won't let you answer firewall popups from the Start screen. So it's basically worthless with Windows 8. Try launching an App from the Start window. The app will eventually stop because if you go to the traditional desktop, there's a popup for Outpost Pro.

tldr: Can't see firewall popups on Windows 8 start screen from Outpost Pro.
