Surprised Vipre affected speeds considering speed is one of their selling points.

Also confirms what people have said about Trend Micro; their protection is good now but it slows systems.

Avast! and Webroot were great, no surprises there.

So, F-Secure and Kaspersky did the best among the top dogs. Bad results for BullGuard, Bitdefender, and Trend Micro.

 

No surprise that Webroot is the best performer out of the 20 tested....

 

TrendMicro had the worst score...

 

have you noticed AV-C is being dizzy these days.

why they always write the wrong date ?

Trend Micro and G Data are the bloatware award winners.

 

If I wanted to nick pick,the only thing I can say about Bitdefender is it's slower to open its UI then some of its competitors,but who cares its not like I am clicking open and close all day long like a sicko.That being said, BD is running remarkably well on two netbooks and my Web surfing is sufficient. It has been rock solid in performance for me. My family is on windows 100 percent of the time and if there not complaining then its all good.

Webroot makes zero impact on my system performance , F secure is very good too.

This has nothing to do if the product includes bloatware or not.
Bloatware is things like gadgets, tuners, cleaners etc etc..that doesn't belong in an AV/AM. Meaning you can use an AV full of bloatware that may still be good at the performance test IMO.

In other words TrendMicro and G-Data need to optimize their products over all, engines, modules etc.

 

A man after my own heart. You are so very right People think "bloat" refers to how heavy it is. NOT. Bloat means its packed with needless features. Norton 360 and Kaspersky Pure are prime examples of bloat.

Their 2013 antivirus is running really great on my lappy that only has an Intel dual-core proc. with 2gb ram

I can completely and totally agree. Besides for the UAC missing sounds I have no issues at all. My GUI actually opens up the mere second I click on it. About 5 co-workers went with the $5 deal and are all now using Bitdefender. No complaints from any of them.

 

This may sound strange but I am actually liking the silent UAC.If its a bug I hope they dont fix it.

 

No surprise at all. Last time i had tried Vipre (admittedly it was a while ago, v4), it was using HDD a lot. I/o reads were far more compared to Avast, cause Avast builds a "library" of already scanned files and doesn't re-scan them. Vipre re-scans them again and again if you access them.

 

If you go to control panel and then sounds and find the "Windows User Account Control" sound event you can remove the sound or set it to any sound you want.

I would have rather seen numbers for this test instead of the bar graph. It lacks detail.

 

I know just never thought of doing that,but now that BD has made UAC silent I dont have to change it.

I find the results off Bullguard very strange because it is very fast on my system and doesn't give me any slowdowns or something and i find it faster as Kaspersky an F-Secure.
