URL scanning protection in avast! is pretty strong so yes, this is certainly a good thing for FB users.

    That was nice to hear...:thumb:

Facebook needs to increase its Security/Privacy
and avast! is a well-respected vendor.

That's great both for the vendors and for the Facebook users :thumb:

I see Avast and AVG in the Facebook security store now, along with 6 month free trials of Kaspersky Pure and Webroot AV.

At it seems, many AV vendors have formed partnerships with FB...
    More vendors will follow...

Total Defense Anti-Virus is Free if we get it through Facebook Security page in the AV marketplace.

Anyone knows how good or bad is this? Never heard of it :D

Looks like Facebook says we can only download 1.. No idea which one is the best to pick (except the free ones of course lol)
Trend Micro Internet Security 2013 looks good though looking at AV-C.

I don't know how long they give you but IMO 6 months TD for free is vastly preferable to... 12 months :D

I believe this is what Computer Associates is now as that av was supposedly taken over by another company. If this is true, I would stay far, far away from it. Having Computer Associates programs installed will cause more problems than most malware. Those CA programs were very buggy and nearly impossible to remove. Plus, FWIW, CA was/is one of the worst customer service companies in existence. There were some posts here on Wilders when CA av/consumer products was taken over and I believe the company that acquired them had a prior connection to spyware/adware or some sort of previous scams. You would need to do a search on this site and the internet to draw your own conclusions. But I rather have no 3rd party security at all as opposed to installing anything associated, or previously associated, with CA .

Wrong company. CA was taken over and is now TotalDefense and I heard they are working on fixing up their products but the new owners have no connect to former scam owners. I also have no idea how good the new TD products are. Lavasoft was the company you are thinking of.
