Pretty slim compared to the Windows version. An anti-virus, a plugin for Safari (safe browsing), real-time protection, web shield. The UI also looks very 'early' compared to the Mac version.

To be honest, I've de-installed it. I've had three sessions with the support people. They are great people, but I've declined a request to gather more data than the three sessions we had, as I had already deinstalled the current release version.

My problems are that some content keeps being blocked (media streams), the very slow file copy, both local (SSD to HD) and network. This also affects time machine. The last straw for me is my Mac going into beach ball mode during the screen saver, twice. Only a forced shutdown helped. I've had to reinstall, and decided to not use the current Mac version for now.

During the brief support sessions, they installed an alpha release, which was already MUCH better.
Apps are getting blocked often as well, during internet access (such as the RSS readers I've tried).

I mailed the support team that I was perfectly willing to test another version, just not the current version anymore.

I've really urge Webroot to do a beta version of the Mac product, not just alpha to release. I know the developers are working hard on a newer release, but I really can't wait.

Joe, I'm perfectly willing to install Webroot for the Mac again, just NOT the current release (8.0.1.44). I'll even test that alpha release!

Support contacted me day after and had already attempted to reproduce problem without success. I've already replied to confirm I couldn't repeat the problem and suspect it was due to a whole batch of Apple sw updates that were concurrently running at the time! So decided not to avail myself of their offer to remote in….

That only leaves one query as I just today found that My Webroot (console) was not displaying my 8.0.1.44 (Mac) install but only my two Windows installations yet it had listed 3 devices? Same key code (you supplied) on all 3 installs to enable me to migrate from my Prevx Family license.

I think MAC installations keys are frozen. I have a key on MAC that keeps having 366 days. If it is a mistake I am not going to contact support :D

The MACs aren't shown yet on MyWebroot (reported).
And the 366 day timer that Fax reported, is also something I've reported. Mine was counting down the last few days though, after support changed something to my account.

Ah thanks, that is indeed a bit slim. The website had Mac compatibility with every version(AV, IS+ and Complete) which gives the impression the extra features of the more expensive versions are also available for Mac, so I think they should change that and have a page with more info on the Mac version.

We're phasing in the additional features very soon with Password Management first, followed by the Backup & Sync product.

In the meantime, it should indeed be considered AV only, even though you can use an IS+/Complete license with it.

Support offered a solution for the keyboard repeat problem with international characters:

You can turn secure input on and off within OSX by opening the menu for terminal or whatever application you are running and turn off secure keyboard entry.

    Kind regards,

    Geri

Thanks for the reply, do you think that the Identity Shield can be developed for OS X?

    Great! I'll give it a go :)

Edit: it's a big improvement. My copy-speed issues are gone, and Flash seems to be played correctly now. For me the following issues remain (reported to support): international key entry problem (the workaround only works in Terminal) and the blocked-site redirecting issue.
The new release is fast and feels much better.

A large component of it already is in place - the generic antikeylogger. We're looking into building out some of the additional areas but OSX isn't as vulnerable to some of the threats as Windows.

Ok nice, OSX is getting more popular among malware writers so I think it is good to try and stay a step ahead of them instead of reacting when it's too late.

    Hello,

Would still like to know if Webroot Mac OS X is compatible with other antiviruses as i have 3 licenses and and have used 2 on windows 7 as a layered approach. The other av i have on the Mac is Avast free.

    Thanks

We haven't seen any incompatibilities with other AVs but we haven't tested it as extensively as the Windows product against AVs yet. You may want to try it out yourself but it would be worth having a backup in place just to be safe.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not to willing to test it out as i'm only new to the Mac. I will be willing to test it out after i have backups in place.

    Thanks.

Resurrecting an old thread, but what's the latest status/version on OSX beta now the product was/is released?

I ask mainly because I don't see specific Mac threads on the Webroot Community support and I'm still experiencing an issue with my single WSA beta
on my only OSX Lion account that I have available for testing?
Specific problem is WebShield throws a warning when I try to remote into a CableGateway (virginmedia SuperHub) and won't allow me to override.

I was also attempting to migrate some PC licences to Mac and monitor the whole lot from a Webroot console but clearly the trial keycodes I have are not compatable!

We have a significant Mac update coming out in the next few weeks and are planning a beta program for it, which you may be interested in, but the problems that you're experiencing should be able to be fixed without software changes. If you could write into our support inbox, they should be able to help you out, and once the beta build is ready, I'll be sure to publish it here so that you can test out the new functionality as well.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the heads-up and I'll pursue via WR support as suggested. I only posted here first in case it was a known issue or obvious "pilot error" ;) to avoid wasting Support time further.

As usual - much appreciate the prompt response/assistance.
