    Thanks to THIS Wilders forum post I learned of an AV called ClamWin. I visted their website. Verrrry interesting.
    *ClamWin is a free antivirus.
    **It's an OpenSource project under SourceForge's umbrella.
    ***It's being developed by volunteers.

    The ClamWin AV project solicits voluntary help in areas such as the following...

    * Submit undetected virus samples.
    * Test the latest release, find and submit bugs and feature requests.
    * Improve the documentation.
    * Promote ClamWin Free Antivirus on the Internet and in the press.
    * Link to clamwin.com on your web site to let other people know about it and improve clamwin.com rankings
    * If you are a C++ or Python developer and have some time to spare you may join the ClamWin Free Antivirus Project and help to improve it
    * Or make a donation and support further development of ClamWin Free Antivirus.

    Here are key links...
    ClamWin main website
    SourceForge Project page for ClamWin

    I gave CW a small $$$ donation. I have downloaded the software & will trial it. Other than that I have no connection with them whatsoever.

    If Paul or any of the Mods decide I am out of line by posting this, then remove it and no offense. It's just that I think it's a worthwhile project, and I do hope that some of the folks here, who are far more talented than me, might see fit to support CW with their time and expertise.

    grace and peace to all... bellgamin

    bellgamin,

    Although it surely comes close to advertising - we'll leave this up as an exception to the rule ;)

    regards.

    ClamWin is a real nice product for sure - but please keep in mind that it doesn´t have a resident protection, it´s only a on demand scanner.

    ClamWin is ported over from the Linux version of ClamAV.

    As Sandish noted, the Windows version only has the on-demand scanner. The Linux version, however, DOES have a real-time monitor {RTM}. Hopefully, porting of the RTM over to ClamWin is only a matter of time.
