while it is a perfect antivirus + firewall, do not attempt to clean ur system using their registry cleaner

when I cleaned mine, upon launching MS Office for the first time, it appeared as it was installing it again with the Office installer.

I reported it to them but stick to the basics of the security suite and not the cleaner

It is better to search for key words and remove entries in the registry yourself if you know what to look for.

Does BullGuard have a roll back option for any changes made to the registry though?

Agnitum licensed its firewall engine to Bullguard. Just like Kaspersky licenses out its AV engine to other companies. It seems the Russians do more than put out their own software. They're bent on total world domination! :D

I ran it on a comuter without Office installed anymore, however when I get a change I will reinstall Office and Bullguard and see if I can replicate the problem.

What version of Office are you using?

When I ran the registry cleaner there didn't seem to be any false positives amongst the problems found.

Here's a tip: don't use *any* program's registry cleaner unless you understand every key that's being deleted. That goes for everyone.

yes that's another great reason to get BullGuard, in addition to Bitdefender engine, it uses the Outpost firewall!

    it's like 2 in 1! Shampoo + Conditioner!

I and my friend were able to replicate the exact same problem

Office 2010 Professional Plus SP1, after the scan / clean with the registry cleaner, run MS Word 2010 and you will notice it won't run and you will see the Windows Installer as if it were installing it from scratch.

Other than that, I felt my Firefox browsing speed became sluggish after the registry clean. I did send them my system log by the way for them to sort out this issue but I won't do any more registry cleans

Or not. Even the latest version of JV16 PowerTools want to delete valid registry entries.

About 3 years using it, never let me down.

I can't speak for other vendors though. The use of a good reg cleaner on a regular basis is highly recommended, imho.

The truth is that there is absolutely no need to ever use a registry cleaner. Not even for people like myself who install new software as often as every day, and go for years between clean installs of Windows.

All least 99% of registry errors found by registry cleaners are completely harmless, and it really is pointless removing them, as you will get absolutely no benefit at all from doing so. In extremely rare cases, cleaning the registry will fix problems or increase speed, but from my years of experience, at least 99% of the time, cleaning the registry is pointless, and more often than not harmful. It really doesn't matter if you have got hundreds or even thousands of so called registry errors - it's best just to leave them there.

The harm comes from the fact the 99% of regsitry cleaners (including JV16, no matter how "safe" JV may claim it is) are not smart enough to diferentiate between good and bad registry keys, meaning that they want to delete some needed registry keys. Doing so of course can course problems.

Berry, I thought you were done cleaning your registry? You are going to learn the hard way sooner rather than later.

I started using jv16PT years ago when I came across issues with some applications on several pc's, and the program did solve problems that I did see no other program could solve, those including "cleaning tools" from developers.

Since then I can do nothing but keep recommending jv16PT to everyone :thumb:

In terms of registry cleaner there is little which seperates it from other registry cleaners, and there a handful of other registry cleaners which don't remove calid registry keys.

AGREE; that whats wrong with a lot of programs nowadays, they think they have to be everything at once and that kind of thinking turns them into CRAP
