It's nice to hear that you have no problems with BD. Some people do have problems or get slower performance when using this AV. As you said: "Everyone's pc is different." That's why there are many more AVs available to choose from.

And this is after an edit.
You might want to slow it down a tad and proof read your posts... unless that's what you intended to say.

    Bitdefender Internet Security sucks!

Instead of providing your 'Memory Usage' screenshot and flashing it as a "great" proof, read these comparatives:
    1) Go to http://www.passmark.com/benchmark-reports/index.htm
and read 2013 Consumer Security Products Performance Benchmarks
    2) Go to http://antivirus.raymond.cc/index.html and read the Benchmarks.
Peak Memory Usage, Hard Drive Space Usage, Load Website, File Download, and File Input Output.
    3) The av-comparatives.org Performance Tests.

When it comes to Performanceand System Overload, BD is Not among the Lightest.

Most users don't have either an i7/8GB RAM system
    OR
an 18 Mbps Fiber Optic Internet Connection.

    Under that System/Internet Connection specifications,
even Coranti or G Data can be "light"... :p

You belong to the exception; not to the Rule!

There are millions upon millions of Dissatisfied BD customers
to the small amount of the satisfied ones!

Mr.Pc I am sure I am much older then you and very well versed on pc benchmarking. I built several gaming machines. I do not need to read links I have read a million times already. My screen shot also indicates more then just memory using. I am no noob here and have been in the computer field for over 10 years now. Since when did pc performance have anything to do with detection rate? I would rather use BD then MSE or Webroot any day. I hate all this 'Its light as a feather". Well what does that matter if it lets all the latest malware by.

FYI................Bitdefender scored a Advanced++ in the AVC performance test. And your calling that poor? That was also Bitdefender IS 2012.

its a very poorly written piece of software.
but the database and detection i fantastic.
but due to the large number of problems it causes i never recommend it to anyone.
search for a thread i started few month back and read about my experience with bitdefender AV and IS during my couple of month of using it.

I would still reccomend other products which use the bitdefender engine such as f-secure.

I have said it a 100 times already! RAM Usage / Memory has NOTHING to do with how the impact on the system is!!

ESS uses 50 MB on my system, Kaspersky Internet Security also uses 50 MB! But there is no comparison! Kaspersky is so heavy on the system to the point it becomes 50% slower or will freeze for 5 secs or so when launching large files!

Take for example, when I am trying to watch movies, with Kaspersky, MPC launches only after 5-7 seconds, but with ESS or BullGuard Internet Security MPC launches instantly! Same with my current BullGuard Internet Security. it uses 50 MB but is light as a feather and very effective since it uses the Bitdefender scanning engine

STOP talking about how many MBs an AV uses! Talk about how it handles file scanning  and it's overall impact on the system

true to a point i would not want my av using 350+ mb no matter how light it is. and yes i have seen some do so...otherwise i do agree.

To be honest with you. I have never EVER looked at how many MBs an antivirus uses in all these years. Yeah maybe when I had 512 MB of RAM 7 years ago I was concerned. But now, all I care about is how my system feels with that AV on? how fast does it open my programs? videos? or large setup files such as office or Nero 12 for example which are more than 200 MB+ ? that's how I judge if an AV / Security Suite is light on the system or not. Not by how many MBs of RAM it is using. At the end of the day, RAM usage is just those modules loaded into memory and it is how those modules handles the file scanning and on-access scans that is important

I must be one of the lucky one's to have two license copy's of BD AV Plus on 2 netbooks running nicely along with AppGuard. Are they slower, yes but not enough to remove them. However, its only been a couple days and if circumstance change I will be sure to say so.

I am not a big fan of Any Antivirus anyways,so I can take it or leave it.Appguard on the other hand is cemented to my HDD.

Oh I never said Bitdefender Internet Security made my computer slow. Just my internet and those weird bugs here and there such as MPC-HC randomly freezing and a lot of other bugs that I cannot remember at the moment.

I was actually happy how light Bitdefender was compared to Kaspersky.

Now I am using BullGuard Internet Security FTW and I am so happy with its performance / protection :) the best of both worlds

I always use AppRemover to move any Antivirus/Security Suite as it not only uninstalls the app, but also removes any traces. This is how I switch between AVs without having any conflicts :)

Never rely on the standard uninstallers and you can test drive an AV you want

their trial period for BullGuard is generous (60 days) and I love their anti spam filter for outlook/Thunderbird, works well and you can train it to know what is spam and what is not from your existing emails

Add to that, you get 5 GB online space for backup. you will have a new drive in Computer called BullGuard so you can copy/paste stuff that you want to backup in there and it wont take up additional space on your computer

also, its registry cleaner is very safe and it also prompts you to download any critical updates to your current software and gives you the download links.

you must try it bro, you will thank me for this suggestion i assure you :)

    Re: Bitdefender Internet Security sucks!

    Hi there,

I considered that is the time to intervene. I must inform you guys that, indeed, we've noticed that most of the users and internet security companies prefer a compromise between the security/protection module of an AV product and its mark on the system resources. We, Bitdefender, will not ever have this approach. Why? Because the protection of the user's data is the main duty of a security product. Unfortunately, people tend to forget that. That's why we are the leaders in most of the independent security tests like AV-Test, AV Comparatives, VB100 or TopTenReviews.

Of course, this can mean that, sometimes, our product can have a direct impact on the system. We totally understand your frustrations regarding this and we’re sorry for any inconveniences our product created. But, i assure you we are trying to optimize the products as much as we can without compromising the security of your system. We, already, made a breakthrough in the last month, by launching some technology updates that have direct consequences on the performance part of the PC.

If you have any issues with the product, you can always drop us a line at bitsy@bitdefender.com or on Twitter at @Bitdefender.

Thanks and have a great day!

    Agree.

IMO, the heaviness or lightness of an AV should depend on it's CPU usage and how much it thrashes the hard drive (I/O read & write bytes)

    Re: Bitdefender Internet Security sucks!

Thanks for taking the time to speak on behalf of Bitdefender products - company. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of any Antivirus but i will say I have two license copys running on netbooks and for the most part I am satisfied as to how there running on both systems.

One thing that needs to be addressed is the UAC prompt has lost its sound after installation of BD AV Plus 2013.Its not a big deal to me but to some of us it is.I also reported it in the BD forum.Just thought you should know if you don't already. So please take a look at Mr.Pc Screen shot above. Thanks - kind Regards.
