Agree and even if they don't try first and just buy it for $ 6.00 and don't like it,they can just donate it to family or a friend and give them a whole lot of program as a gift.;)

Exactly. Not every pc is the same. Software runs differently on every pc. It's a fact of life. If we had had the same pc's then it would be an issue. I recently nuked my drive and used my recovery partition. I have a compete fresh OS with no conflicts whatsoever. People uninstall and reinstall security products daily. Then they wonder why they have conflicts.

I intend to use the laptop for school use and Panda Cloud (Free) is much lighter than NOD32 running on my desktop. What you guys think? I'm trying not to spend money on another Antivirus, but NOD32 although light is still a bit heavy.

    My current strategy:
OS Windows 7 Home Premimum 64-bit
    UAC Max
    Malwarebytes Pro (Realtime)
    Super Anti-Spyware Pro (Realtime)
    EMET 3.0 Always On, Opt-out, Opt-In

    Sandboxie (Paid)
    - All internet facing applications
    - USB & CD/DVD Drives

    Browsers (IE9 & Firefox installed)
    - Extensive Harden/Tweaked (Caches disabled, etc.)
    - Intend to set up browsers as a kiosk.
    - Forwarding traffic through Securitykiss VPN (free)
    - Keepass for all sensitive data.

    Comodo
Firewall : Custom Policy (School: Block All).
Defense+ : Safe Mode (School: Paranoid)
    Unrecognized Files: Untrusted (School: Blocked)
    Sandbox : Enabled

    Overall:
Windows Home Premium has limitations, so I intended to harden as much as possible. Disabling unnecessary crap and switching to a standard user account. Also waiting on Exploit Shield beta to be finalized (bugs, etc. to be worked out). Would happily pay for a pro edition if it includes protection features listed under the corporate version, functions with Sandboxie, EMET, and SUA.

Side Note: Cut out most of the plug-ins on my Desktop & Laptop Firefox. Running lighter with (Better Privacy, NoScript, HTTPS Everywhere, Keyscrambler, RefControl, Request Policy, UAControl). Disabled click to play, it was blocking quite a few of the security/privacy plug-ins on a per site basis. Not happy, considering once you visit the site they've already collected the information these plug-ins are intended to block.

A few reasons, first off BD does not have a great history and has left many people with negative experiences. For the most part BD has released consistently buggy products that, for whatever reason, always seemd to run better in their SDK editions. Also BD has many users who complain of the large install or have other issues. Finally, many people want nothing to do with downloadcrew as it has been involved in some shady "giveaways" in the past. And its sister site betanews seems to thrive off creating controversial articles, possibly just to generate web traffic. Anyhow, downloadcrew may be an online store many people would rather not be involved with no matter how low a price they offer BD.

Lol..............Thanks for the laugh. Large install..................Yeah for people who have a 20GB HDD. In todays world most pc's have a 500GB HDD or larger. So what is BD has a 256MB download. Symantec has had a very long history of releasing buggy products along with others. Heck look at Kaspersky. They are the kings of that. Never said I was a fan of DownloadCrew. But when they over such a spectacular deal only a fool wouldn't take it. I downloaded BD Trial and after 2 weeks I was impressed. I was considering buying it but then I said no I will go back to Avast Free. But when I saw the deal I went for it. Even if BD screws up my laptop or anything else I could care less cause I only spent $6 on it. What about the poor soul who spent $70 of Kaspersky Pure and has issues? FYI................Reality check..........Every single piece of software has bugs. Even Microsoft.

I make it a policy to avoid downloading software from 3rd parties with few exceptions. I occasionally download the software to a sandbox on my old net-book and locate/extract the key/license information. I then then download a clean copy from the developer's website and register it instead. Only work if the giveaway includes a license or key. Otherwise, I'd buy direct from the developer. I agree, sometimes it's a good deal that is hard to pass up.

Who ever said I downloaded it from DownloadCrew? I downloaded the full offline installer right from BD. You cannot download Avast Free official the Avast web site. It leads you right to Download.com

Your reading into things ... never accused you of anything. Just stated as a policy, I don't download from giveaway sites except to collect valid serial keys.

Who said I spent $70 on Kaspersky Pure? Currently I have KIS 2013 on one computer, never spent a dime on it. Have Avast IS on another, never spent a dime on it. Nod32 was last time, it was free as well. Avira IS 18 months is a license that was free too. Emsi, Gdata, F-Secure, BitDefender, Twister, AVG paid version, Bullguard....all for free. You must not be doing something right to be paying for software...it's nothing to brag about although I understand you think you have to mention your $6 Bitdefender find in pretty much every post you make.

Read my post before replying. I specifically said "The poor soul". No where did I say acr1965 spent $70. I am spreading the news about BD only costing $6 so other members can take advantage of this deal before its gone. Its called looking out for each other. I wouldn't consider spending $6 paying for something. If you think $6 is a lot of money then you better find a better job.

"What about the poor soul you spent $70 of Kaspersky Pure and has issues? " The word you would lead acr1965 to conclude you were speaking about him. Probably a typo but proof reading your posts before hitting the submit button would be prudent.

So if I grab this BD deal for $5.95 can I activate the license and use BD say after 3 years or more? You know Webroot lets activate their license any time in the future even after 10 years.:D

DownloadCrew has several other great offers. But once again I will stress that I do not believe in paying for any type of software. I never tried BD. Through the past 10 years I used. NIS,KIS,CIS,AVG,Avast,Avira,Panda Cloud,Emsisoft and McAfee. Was a huge fan of NIS for many years. I still am. KIS is very good as well as CIS. CIS can be very overwhelming for noobs though. Got on my nerves occasionally. But if I never found the BD deal I would still be using Avast Free. :D
