Well, for the ones that you want everyone to see ... like your cat!! :D

    http://money.cnn.com/2012/10/03/technology/social/facebook-promoted-posts/

Are they losing money? They keep coming up with one scheme after another every other week.
None of which seem to 'fly' so far ...

I like the commenter that said, he'd pay for them to leave his info alone..
    only $2.00 though .. :p

No. Facebook wants to charge you to promote a post. This is obviously aimed at a business or blog or some such thing - not your typical user.

It's not semantics. It's like saying Comodo wants to charge you for using CIS. They have a professional edition aimed at businesses and a free version.

They aren't restricting features to people who pay they're adding a feature for those who pay.

This isn't aimed at getting people to pay to post it's getting people to pay to promote a post. The key being that you 'promote' a business or a website or a cause.

They've extended a capability previously only available to people who would, essentially, be buying ad space. Now anyone can do this, which is great. I don't generate revenue through my blog or really care about hits at all but if I were monetizing it this is exactly the type of thing I'd want to use.

No. I could do that without this promote feature (and I know people who do this with their bands and stuff) but I'm not interested either way.

Re: Facebook wants to 'promote' your posts for money

Actually, I also said "for the ones that you want everyone to see"-
which construes 'promoting'- a person's post...

I posted the link, for information, for people in this forum, who I am sure
are smart enough to figure out what my post was saying.
Also smart enough to figure out what the article is saying, without anyone's help.

    End of this story ...

    Thanks.
