That's nice setup. I will probably use something similar when I move to 64 bit.

I agree. Last year I had this disease. I change my setup almost daily. Then I just decided not to use any realtime protection (only HMP and MBAM on-demand scans). Gone are the days when I spend countless hours trying to mix and match security software...

And now I'm just using AppGuard [Locked Down] + HMP + Win7FW + Keriver 1-Click Free + Autorun disabled.

So light on my system. :D

  6. I missed your reply :p

Yes, I uninstalled HMP because I don't use on-demand scanners to be completely honest.

Yes, Bitdefender is a light AV (2013 has improved greatly compared to 2012), and I would recommend it for those who prefer to pay for AV software. However, I, myself, don't believe in paying for security software is any better than using a Free product, ie. Avast, AVG, Panda Cloud etc. (I think I made sense there).

I was indeed using a 30-day trial of Bitdefender Antivirus Plus and had 20-days remaining. So even after the 20-days left I would have uninstalled it.
I'll repeat, I was only trailing the product so I wasn't set on using it permanently in the first place.

So the reason I uninstalled BD was because for 5 solid minutes it was downloading (something o_O ) at max. speed on my net connection. Even disabling the components in the software, it continued. So during that time, I was not able to use my web browser. Leading me to uninstall BD. It was also at 1AM, so I didn't want to disturb anyone else. :ninja: blah blah blah...

As you are aware MSE 4.1.522.0 was recently released, so I was willing to try their new release too.

80% of the time, I don't have an AV installed and I'm aware of the risks and dangers, even with my current knowledge. That's why I have my personal data backed-up (USB and Cloud) and a clean system image on a portable HDD. :) You're never truly safe on the Internet.

Hope the above answers your questions, Amit. :)

    Excuse my bad grammar.

I visit Wilders every other month, and I've never had a problem with posting. But lately, I'm put off from posting here again the future. :thumbd:

I don't believe in paying for security either. But when you can get BD for $6/year why not. That's the only reason I bought it. So you had a problem for ONLY 5 minutes and you uninstalled it? Impatient one aren't you. The Bitdefender forums would have given you the info you needed instead of uninstalling it. Most likely you were getting a product update. There had been 2 new versions within a week span. It's not the products fault you have poor bandwidth. Yes that maybe all your area covers. The auto updates can be stopped a disabled. I didn't know someone could not live without Internet access for 5 minutes. Mine was down for 8 days along with my phone and tv. That was because of an ice storm.

Yes, just add the executable for VT Hash Check in there (Download Statusbar) instead of hitmanpro. It offers up 40 different opinions, including the main strength of HMP (BitDefender), and Ikarus. Also Emsisoft, Kaspersky, and Comodo. So to me this removes the need for 4 on demand scanners I'd otherwise use: CCE, KSS, EEK, & HMP... since they're all among the databases used by VT Hash Check. So the only on demand scanner I have is MBAM Free, since it's not included in VT. And it serves as a 2'nd opinion via my shell.

I gave it (VT Hash Check) a nice tight set of rules in my FW/D+ and granted it start/run & internet access in my Sandboxie restrictions for my normal Firefox sandbox. I have a "secure" sandbox for FF as well where I allow nothing (except Firefox) *fixed*. VT would serve no purpose in that one since I cannot even recover files from it period ;)

Emsisoft Online Armor 6.0 now available!

The most important improvements in Emsisoft Online Armor 6.0:

    - Suitable for Windows 8: Emsisoft Online Armor now supports Microsoft's latest OS.

    - Easier installation: The lengthy initial scan launched by default after installation has been removed, as programs are analysed in real-time when they are started. Online Armor is therefore up and running quicker and you save valuable time.

    - Optimized performance: Efficient rules make Online Armor run noticeably faster. Ideal for use with Emsisoft Anti-Malware!

    - Fewer alerts: Due to the redesigned certificate check you will hardly receive any alerts despite HIPS technology, allowing you to work without being disturbed.

I do not know about Chrome but with Firefox, Norton has been releasing their compatibility update the same day as Firefox releases. The Firefox 4 release was a different story.

I am well aware of that. It was a reference indicating how every company has flaws. Big or small. Norton users flooded the Symantec forum every time a new version of Firefox came out.

Changed to KIS 2013. Kinda heavy though, but it feels pretty strong. Damn CIS 6 never comes out...... They announced the beta months ago and still nothing.
