I asked this in a similar thread, and it went ignored, but why do some of you only use the slim build? The difference between the two installers is minimal. All that needs to be done is uncheck a single box..........What am I missing?

I think people want the slim version on principle really, I can't think of any other reason. They object to the idea that they try to slip something else in on ya. It seems like kind of a silly battle to me though. If there wasn't an option to disable I could see how that might be a problem.

 

Even more confounding, to me at least, is the fact that there is an official *portable* build, which contains all of the functionality of the standard and slim versions.

Further, the portable versions are released at the same time as the standard versions and you never have to concern yourself with unticking any boxes. In fact, obviously, it doesn't even have an installer.

I simply created a directory for CCleaner on my HDD and unzip each new (portable) release into that directory. Done! The only thing I do after that, which is not absolutely necessary, is delete the language files.

Picked it up as well.

 

Reverted to build 3.22.1800 because this new build resets/re-enables the setting "Predict network actions to improve page load performance" setting in both Chrome & Dragon. I have reported the issue to Piriform, and it has been confirmed.

 

Just a quick question. I never clean MRU/usage data - with the exception being cleaning my browsing history maybe twice a year (because having thousands of entries in the history tends to cause slowdowns). I am wondering why so many people want to clean usage data? Due to the amount of people who post here as soon as a new version of CCleaner is released, it is clear that a lot of pople do so.

I rarely use CCleaner - I prefer Quick Heal PCTuner. But, whenver I install CClenaer on one my machines, the first thing is do is to uncheck anything related to MRU/usage data so that temporary files are the only thing thats gets cleaned.

It seems like a pretty handy thing to have happening.

 

For me, it actually seems to slow my page loading down, especially when I land on a page with many, many links. I uncheck all of those settings in both Chrome and Dragon, and it feels way snappier to me.

 

If you want to stop that go into your Internet Options and uncheck "automatically detect settings" via Windows Control Panel. You will notice Chrome starts up faster that way. When Chrome launches it looks at your LAN settings first. After doing this little tweak years ago Chrome starts up in about 1 second. Well not from cold boot. No problem with CCleaner remove that setting either.

Well ever once in awhile I completely uninstall Chrome. Export your bookmarks. Uninstall it using Advanced Uninstaller Pro or Revo. Delete everything it finds. Search for left overs in User/App Data. Run CCleaner Registry Cleaner. Download and run the Chrome Uninstall tool. Reboot and after reboot double check for any left overs. Install Chrome "full" installer. I never use the App Data installer. Just use CCleaner 5 times and never duplicated your concern. Bit at least Piriform knows about it.
