    Hi Guys.

On-line banking & Shopping. I have several choices. Is one superior in security than the other?

    • DefenseWall - Online Banking & Shopping Secure line feature.
    • Trusteer Rapport - free online security supposedly 'well respected'.
    • Bitdefender & Avast AV offer online banking feature. (when Emsisoft Lic. expires)
Is one better than the other? Is one more at risk than the other?

Trusteer Rapport good choice in my opinion. Tests it confirmed.
You must remember that You can not use DefenseWall with Trusteer Rapport. Because protection Trusteer then does not work.

One malware bypassed Trusteer Rapport and You talk, that is bad?

Many antiviruses in its history detects as malware files windows. People still use them, however.

    Any software can be omitted:)

Therefore, reliance on a single program is a mistake.

I think the main point (it was in another thread) was on a weak design of trusteer that makes it very easy to bypass (as compared to other solution like WSA). May be by now this has been rectified. http://www.digit-security.com/blog/?p=47

And what about Security programs that offer it as a bonus feature such as DefenseWall & AVs like Bitdefender & Avast ?? Connsidering the feature is supported by the rest of the security program's arsenal are they acceptable or just a gimmick?

I realize this does not answer your question directly but it is related.

I am quite anal about protection during banking/financial activities but I never use the banking modes. I feel very well protected by Sandboxie and DefenseWall and for further protection I use LastPass and I have KeyScrambler for the sites where I type in my password. I have never read of any circumstance when any of these protections were defeated.

When I feel especially anal I use a VPN but I don't do that much because I feel I'm well protected anyway.

Ye, Kaspersky has passed this test at 100% and Trusteer.

Trusteer is a little heavy, but it has a lot of features. My friend had one of the very popular free anti-virus, got in the mail from Paypal transactions (very often they are carried out) turned out to be a phishing scam and lost money.

Therefore, protection against phishing is very important.

Personally my online banking/shopping protection setup has been in place for a few years now and never have I had any problems or been compromised in any way........
Reboot from one shadow session into another (Shadow Defender) log onto said site and conduct my business, DefenseWall is in charge of protection, complete my business and once again reboot from one shadow session into another (so that no traces of said transactions are left on computer) and back to surfing the net.

Rapport passes all the real tests, period. And it's financed by the banks themselves. They won't put money on it if it didn't work. A guy's video on youtube doesn't mean a thing to me, one can hack anything in front of his computer. Which software is immune to that?

Welcome to Wilders, Trusteer Support. I've heard plenty of good stuff about TR. Some of this banking online security stuff goes over my head. Perhaps you can tell us how Trusteer Rapport fits in and how it differs from AV security programs that offer a "safe-banking mode"?

Thank you for that question. I am using two AVs that have a "Safe Mode." I too would like to know how TR differs. I believe the test results and am impressed, but know essentially nothing about TR.

ADDED. Can Trusteer be uses alongside AVs such as Kaspersky, Avast, Bit Defender, etc? Since they have a secure banking mode would there be interference? Thanbks.

Yes Trusteer rapport is a complement to any AV and can be used alongside any of them but check this: http://www.trusteer.com/support/compatibility-other-security-software
There is no AV or internet security suite offering a banking security comparable to trusteer rapport.

    Thanks, guest.

I also wonder if Trusteer can be used, as SafeZone can, to do transactions with PayPal, and others where you would use your credit card to purchase an item?

Yes trusteer rapport has an option to protect credit card numbers btw other things. (edit policy options)
If you use it remember 2 things
TR only works in the sites you tell it to work, by doing click on protect this site, so the website will be added to the "trusted" website list. When TR protects a site the icon is green when not is gray
And then you have to go to the options and click on "edit policy" to change the settings in order to protect also the sites added manually.

    Thanks, again.
It appears that this is a great application for secure transactions.
I don't see it in your signature, though.:)
