I see you have Comodo Firewall/Defense+, why not put hole security suite (CIS) and then just disable real time AV?

Dude, thanks for this! Looks like an awesome option that suits my criteria. I don't like that VT was taken over by Google, but oh well. I know the only thing being transmitted will be that file I'm checking. Can't believe I was oblivious to it for so long.

I've installed HMP too. Don't like that it just hurls itself into your OS, but hey... worth it for such a large def. database a right click away.

So now I have MBAM, HMP & VT Hash Check in my shell. I'd say I'm pretty well covered now.

That's a great combo. What are advantages of VT Hash Check over VirusTotal Uploader?

This two are almost the same, but for me VT Hash Check is faster and easy to navigate.
VirusTotal Uploader have some other features (process check...)

OK. Thanks for info. Will stay with VT Uploader if they are similar.

    What do you mean?

^ That's a good measure IMO tomazyk ^ I use it too via a GP edit here on XP.

As for VT Hash Check... well, it "sounded" like a good idea. Unfortunately when I try to sign up for an account to get the API Key, it just freezes up on me after I enter my info and click the "Sign Up" button. Nothing happens...

I mean that it doesn't have a custom install to let you choose where you install it to. It just automatically puts itself into the Program Files folder of your OS partition. I personally like to keep my OS isolated from everything else. I have separate partitions for my programs, data, games, studio software, etc... Also Firefox, Sandboxie, & Comodo have their own partitions.

Isolation is part of my security approach.
