Ditched sophos on my macbook as it was taken for ever for applications to open and when I disabled it everything was instant.

Trying out Avast for a mac, downloading it right know.Lets see how she goes or blows.:p

Done,A painless install, fast updates but of course not having 10 million signatures helps a lot.has a great GUI and feels pretty light.Great Job Avast.

I uninstalled Avast a month ago to test out a few free AVs (I've been using Avast for about 8 years). I actually felt guilty for doubting Avast, and I'm probably never going to uninstall it again.

I was gonna keep Kingsoft, but I don't really know a ton about it, so I skipped that one. I know they're trusted by a lot of people on here, but I still have my doubts.

Totally. Tom's setup is very layered and strong but not excessive or paranoid.:thumb:

Pretty sharp setup. List looks long but the content makes sense.

Nothing about tomazyk's setup is overkill. Most of it is hardening, and things most people wouldn't list. Heck, Sandboxie is the only 3'rd party software I even see running real-time.

I don't really even consider EMET as such. It's just a nice clean interface to organize & deploy measures already built into the OS. Maybe call it 2'nd party...

Looks like a very light & effective setup.

Added HTTPS Everywhere since it was back in the Chrome store. No conflicts with AdBlock PLUS like the last time I tried it.

added TinyWall which is a front end for the Vista/7 firewall.

    really easy to use.
it adds easy outbound control for which the Windows firewalls lack.

For two reasons. I do not try out unstable products which could possibly mess up my system. And I use an internet connection which blends slow speed with little data volume. With EAM frequently downloading tens of mb of beta updates I'm better not try beta.;)

removed SAS as i really did not know what it really did while my year subscription and did not want to spend money on something like that. I installed Avira only use the realtime not the web and mail ( still have 80 days on my subscription) and WSA . They run well and light
