IKARUS slows down my computer

high memory and cpu usage

the guardxservice.exe has a high I/O reads、writes

as much as everyone said how light it was i found a similar thing when i was running it, im not sure why but it was on a clean install so nothing left from previous av but man certain things def slowed down. and i really liked ikarus and honestly wish i had better luck with them.

 

When I tried it, there was a noticable slowdown on everyday Windows things on a very fast computer. Something like just opening the Event Viewer suddenly took two seconds instead of opening instantly. And there were definitely no conflicts; it was just heavy.

 

exactly what i fealt. it reminded me of kaspersky 2010 and 2011 to be honest. everything was slowed down even unzipping a file was so slow and this was on a i7 overclocked to 4.6 with 16gb ram and it still fealt that way

 

They ALL slow down the computer. Anything that reads/writes on the HDD, is slowing down and eats CPU cycles.

Eventually i stopped real time protection and use just HIPS/antiexecutables/virtualization. No more worrying about incompatibility with other programs, BSODs, etc. Most people in here never see a live malware anyway. It's just "Wilders' paranoia" that kicks in and makes you spend hours after hours on setups with multiple layers etc.

 

i dont agree with that statement. they all may slow you down a small amount but some will bring your system to a crawl while others you barely know are even running, and please do not tell me its because im running more than one or pieces of others are left behind etc, i own a custom pc shop and have been doing this for more than 20 years am a former ibm robotics tech and programmer, am a certified technician for many oem brands etc.......when i state something slowed me down or was heavy for me it was done testing on a CLEAN system with only windows installed and the proper drivers and updates nothing more. on my own systems i never install any av on a system that previously had one already on it i either format or restore a base image i made prior to installing any other av even many of my clients now who have been with me for a while know the same and are set up with imaging software and i do the same for them if they decide to switch to a different av. i have many times had clients call me after coming in asking me to switch their av; and the one they want to go to may be against my better judgement but they are the customer. then ill get a call in a week saying something like i HAVE to get this new one OFF everything is ridiculously slow now; happens very often actually (will not get into a vs b here though). i only sell and provide ones i feel offer excellent overall protection and are not system hogs here in my shop but i do have clients bring me others av's all the time and more often than not, honestly this ends up being the case.

using the term "all" i personally would totally disagree with. i do not mean to sound rude or offensive but i hear this from many people on here that there is no way one is heavier than another etc.. yes they can be and when some of us test this we do so properly and provide honest feedback.

 

We agree. I didn't say that they "all slow down at the same degree". I just said that they "all slow down". The percentage of each, is often presented in the infamous "performance tests" in AV reviews or test centers.

Also, each person has different perception. There are people that can't see the difference between "no AV" and "heavy AV". Others can spot much subtler differences in speed. Hardware is also part of the equation.

I have Tried Ikarus and found it heavy...
Talking about slowdown.. Have been using ESET for last 1 year, no virus infection and slowdown?? What's that

 

please contact our support.
normally our software does not slow down computers ;-)
there can be a lot of reasons why a computer is "slow"
sometimes it can also depend on the HDD (when there is an old one for example).

agree.. for me it kinda spiked in the ram.. i mean SPIKE , not continuously affecting the ram.. it really bothered me...
