Hi guys, I need something similar to HMP but antivirus instead of antimalware. I am currently using TrendMicro HouseCall but if does not have shell integration and right click scan. I have to manually select a file to scan, which is a pain. Does anybody know AV similar to HMP?***

***HMP = Hitman Pro (I thought this was a shortcut used commonly on this forum, sorry for any misunderstanding)

Yeah....I think the op means Hitman pro. Since neither of the other links are AV's. Hitman pro is a AV/AM scanner. It utilizes 5 scanners to scan your files. The only thing close that I can recommend is virustotal uploader. https://www.virustotal.com/documentation/desktop-applications/
This does have the right click scan or rather it sends the file to be scanned at virus total.
Other than that you can get Emsisoft AM free. That has the right click scan and explorer integration.
You then can try a bunch of free AV's and just turn off the real time protection. Take your pick between, avira, avast, comodo AV, roboscan, panda cloud. I'm sure I'm missing a few but you get the idea. Hope that helps.

    Oh dear... of course.
But then the OP's post makes no sense:
    HitmanPro is both.
    HitmanPro has it.
HMP (to use the OP's nomenclature) is not an AV in the traditional sense of the term.

Yes, It's called reading between the lines. Myself and Brandonn2010 were adept enough to understand the question. We were also professional enough not to nit pick and belittle the OP.

When I reach 700+ posts like you I'll remember to start asking about other members legitimacy.

    Thanks.

I'm sorry if I came off rude. Your post just seemed unhelpful given most members here would know HMP and anti-malware means HitmanPro, and the fact you have 6 posts made me think you may have signed up to troll.

Hitman pro covers a wide range of malware and virus etc.AFAIK there is no other program like HMP at this time, well at least not a copy cat.

Okay guys, thank you for clearing things up a bit for me. I did not know that HMP has also antivirus engine in it. I thought that it was mostly antimalware.

Back to my original question. I am looking for a dedicated AV with the following requirements:
    1. it must exist in the cloud just like HMP
    2. it must have a right click option for on demand scan just like HMP
    3. it must have very low resource usage

So far I found Tredmicro HouseCall, which basically fulfills points 1 and 3 but does not have a right click option for on demand scan. Instead you have to go through complicated hoops to scan a specific file.

Are you asking about a real time AV or an on-demand scanner? When you say "AV" it sounds like you want a real time antivirus. o_O

perhaps panda cloud may be worth a try. (Edit) scratch this not on demand.

He talks about HMP & HouseCall which are both on-demand scanners, but then mentions low resource usage, so I don't know what to recommend him?

If you're happy with HouseCall and just want to create a context-menu or right-click scan item, why not just accomplish that with FileMenu Tools? It's very handy for all sorts of custom context-menu items. I'm not using it anymore in favor of Directory Opus (which has this functionality built-in), but it was indispensable when I was still using Windows Explorer as my file manager.

    must satisfy all 3 points.

panda cloud is weird, it actually slowed down my computer. when you look at the forums you will see a bunch of folks with the same problem.

OK, so you are looking for a cloud based, real time antivirus.....Since you tried PCA and didn't like it, I would suggest Kingsoft Antivirus.

Someone called me a troll but I think you're the troll.
What you're asking for is HitmanPro itself.

Why not just use HMP? It won't remove things for free but you can just manually delete any infected files. I don't think there is any cloud scanner that uses 5 engines and scans as quickly as HMP.

yes i am looking for any antirius that is 1) cloud 2) low resources 3) right click on demand scan

note: AV doesn't have to have active protection

Thanks for Kingsoft, Im gonna evaluate it now.

I just want a secondary on demand scanner. How am I troll? I already have HMP, I just want to use something to doublecheck the results. My systems has no active AV, has no active AM, has only windows FW. Since DF (DeepFreeze) is my last and only line of defense, it is imperative that whatever file I save to USB doesn't have a virus or malware. If you still consider this trolling then I honestly don't know what to tell you besides ignoring this thread.

    I don't get it.
The OP wants an AV that's just like HMP.
    So use HMP already!
What is it gonna miss that an AV would find?
Edit In: I just saw mattbierna's reply that he has HMP and wants a second opinion. Ha ha. HMP bills itself as a second opinion scanner. ;)
