The developer needs some revenue to keep the program going.
i personally hate toolbars and i suppose there is a way to install without these.
    I cant find a portable version.:ninja:

    Hi,

There is NO OpenCandy in our installer.
However, of course there's a Zip portable version available on our download page : http://www.kcsoftwares.com/?download

Does sumo detect more installed programs than say secunia and filehippo update checker.?
I like the look of your program but i fail to see what it does which is any different from the programs ive mentioned.

    Thank you Kyle for responding.
How does your program find more.?
Please dont misunderstand me im not trying to detract your programme in the slightest.its just im wondering why programs like secunia and update checker fail to find and update the programs which sumo does.
    Regards.:thumb: :ninja:

They only look at either :
    - a list of software that is on their server. They are unable to "adapt" to software they don't know
    - they only read data from registry, no real scan of portable apps

    SUMo :
    - Learn & adapts to new software
    - Relies on EXE files, not on registry

The real question is why don't they find as much software as SUMo :)

Secunia PSI has never worked right for me. It either freezes on opening or scanning on both my systems 100% of the time. The Secunia online installer requires java, which opens security holes so the online version is worthless to me.

After seeing this thread I installed Sumo. I installed the "lite" version without adware. Its only flaw is it can't list just security updates.

I can understand if it wants to list driver updates also. But it is pointless to list a minor bug fix for every single app on my system. Updating for minor bugs would be a full time job and pointless for 99.9% of us.

Main question: Its the security patches that are important. Any chance that a column will be added to indicate which updates are security updates? Or an option in the settings to change Sumo to only show security updates?

Mr Katarn we need your help ;)
I use opera browser (beta version called Next) but developers made a regression so the new beta version is 12.10.1592 and no more the 12.50.1583.0 as you show (correctly due to the numer)
    They explain that here
    http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2012/09/12/opera-12-10-beta-candidate
Plus as they said: "The decreased version number means the you will not receive automatic updates from Opera Next to 12.10. However it is safe to install this build over the top of the last 12.50 build."
So if users still continue thinking their 12.50 is last version there are no popup or automatic update for them.
If you can manually set 12.10.1592 as last beta version (or move down the 12.50) will solve this issue for user not addicted to look at Opera homepage
    Thanks

It's a very stable program and i don't think there is another updater that comes even close. Just don't click on the first link, the full installer is bundled with everything you can imagine lol. Use the other 3 links, download the zip or the 7z packages that don't need installation
