 ...I'd think you're gonna have some conflicts running it with Ikarus, Avira, Avast, MSE, or one of your other flavors of the day! :argh:

Does the real time protection have the option to automatically apply actions (repair, remove, quarentine...) without the user interaction?

I really prefer automatic actions when installing a AV for a happy clicker user.

as a update i have a number of customers using this for a free av over the other major ones and so far i actually have really good luck with it. only one person so far called because they ended up with a rouge which i dont care who's av your clients have will get at one point or another. so far so good. im not personally running it anymore except on a test system but overall a really nice free av

I'm not running this personally right now, but if I remember correctly, you can set it to auto clean any detections. I'm sure someone else will weigh in on this eventually.

Thanks for the feedback guys :thumb:

I'll test this in my family computer for a while to see how it goes, i like the fact that it uses BitDefender engine and it also seems, from what i've read in this thread, that the update problem no longer exists.

Has anyone tried this with Windows 8 Release Preview or Windows 8 RTM (a trial of its Enterprise edition is being offered by MS)?

even if officially is not supported, it works great
The only thing is that if you are not in desktop mode but you use Metro start page you can't see roboscan allert or popup (because is not ready for 8 od course).
But if you skip metro using for ex. Classic Shell or similar programs, Roboscan works simply perfect on 8 RP and I think on RTM too

Good thing I'm not very fond of metro apps (or whatever MS calls it now). I do use the metro interface as a replacement for the old start menu for searching files and stuff but not the weird full screen metro apps.

Thanks for the info, I'll try it tomorrow.

I've been installing this AV to many of my clients. But today I had a problem with it. I installed it on an old Acer Aspire One. If I wanted to do a scan it always said 0 files scanned. And realtime protection wasn't working either. Anyone had this problem ? The status said everything was on and working. I wonder what happen.

uninstall, pass ccleaner, shotdown, restart, block every other realtime security program and reinstall, could be that the driver was not 100% working in the first installation or a conflict with other security program

It was a clean windows install. No other security programs were installed before.

Did you have UAC & that other MS mother may I please security stuff turned off? When I work on others pc's if I don't turn that junk off, it sometimes messes up installs.

are you sure that roboscan is the first thing you install on a fresh install windows?
if not, it could be the driver/software before
if yes, it could be some rare bug, you should report it to official web

Thats the point. Reread what I said. Systems that DON'T turn that junk off, that's where the install of programs fail sometimes.

Anyone having any issues with auto updates? I had to install some stuff in both of my kids pcs yesterday, and noticed that Roboscan hadn't updated in a few days, on both pcs. I manually updated both, but I find it weird that 2 pcs would have this issue. They use the pcs daily.

once in a while it fails to update but it will try again and i always have had it update without issues. and ive only ever seen it fail a couple times. it seems to be sensitive to your internet connection speed. if you have a really slow connection for some reason this causes it to fail easy im not sure why.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's our connection speed, we have FiOS, but you never know. I should have checked the Roboscan logs, but didn't. I will tonight, I'm curious if there were failed updates, or if it didn't check at all.

yeah i wouldnt worry to much if it fails it continues to try till it is successful what i meant about connection speed is it seems their us servers are SLOOOOOWWWWWWW and for some reason if it get at all interrupted during the process it will "fail" but if you do a manual update and it fails you will see it will try again all on its own. i really like it except for the firewall which is ehh but still imo better than the windows one. you can also go into the setting and change the update frequency just to make sure if that makes you more comfortable. i set mine to every 2 hours.

Oh, okay. I thought you meant my connection speed might be iffy. Other than the initial program download, and the first update I ran, which were painfully slow, updates have been pretty quick. I did set updates for 2 hour intervals last night, I initially set it to auto check.
