I had never heard of Mount Manager, so on my WinXPsp3 computer, I searched for Mount Manager, and came up with MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase of 0kb (actually, it had a few squiggles in it) and a tracking.log of 20kb (code of some sort), both located in D:\System Volume Information.

That didn't tell me anything useful re the conflict between NOD32 5 and Raxco's PerfectDisk, so I did a Google search, and came up with two links: The first one apparently is about Android; the second about UBuntu,

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twimager.cifsmanager&hl=en

    http://www.ubuntugeek.com/mount-manager-user-friendly-management-of-disks-and-partitions.html

Being a computing ignoramus, I still have little understanding of the computer freeze generated by a USB connection to a an external hard drive (but thanks for your info that the way to get out of such a freeze is to reboot, maybe with the hard drive still connected?), or the NOD32-Raxco conflict. So I'll definitely stick with NOD32 4.2.71.2 until I read that both problems have been fixed.
