no it was false positive and it still is not fixed . uninstalled it anyway

I downloaded some tool that inserts certificates in windows and Kingsoft reported it as malware/virus and deleted the file without allowing me to choose to run it anyway. Very annoying. I want to be able to chose what action to take. Please fix this.

Hello Kingsoft, can you please explain if the following behavior is normal. On my Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 machine, and using SRWare Iron as my browser, when I download the Eicar test file, I get no prompt from Kingsoft at any point. I can click on the test file link, then click "keep" in Iron, then open the test file (either from Iron, or from my downloads folder since it downloaded without interference from Kingsoft), then click "OK" on the UAC prompt, and the test file attempts to install and ultimately disappears, without a single prompt from Kingsoft. Then I run a quick scan, and again, nothing from Kingsoft.........Only until I do a full scan, or a right click scan will Kingsoft catch, and quarantine the file.

This doesn't seem right to me, and this behavior has been consistent since Kingsoft version SP3.5. Can you explain to me why Kingsoft lets the file download, open and attempt to run without a single prompt? Also, why doesn't the quick scan option scan the downloads folder? That is where most installers are kept on most users machines, is it not?

 

Awesome release. It's really nice to see such good attention to users feedback. Kingsoft guys kinda remind me of avast! Software team. They always listened to user requests, wishes and feedback. And it shows in the product itself. KAV is turning into one of the best AV's at the moment imo. And they'll come very far with it, remember my words.

 

Sorry, DBone, we do not support SRWare Iron browser currently.

The scan points of Quick scan include the most important points as startup items, current process, system service and other items you can see in quick scan, it scans the most important points with less time.

About downloading items, it will be monitored by defense if the browser used is supported.(Some popular browsers like IE, Chrome, Firefox, Maxthon are supported)

Hmm, yes, we will gradually add more supported browsers.

 

I think it should pick it up regardless of the browser used.

 

Why not use Chrome instead of SWIron? It is basically the same thing.

 

Because I find Iron to be better. All of the speed of Chrome, without the other issues that make Chrome non-usable for me........I have never heard of an antivirus "not supporting" a specific browser before in terms of overall protection. Browser plugin addons yes, but never total security.

 

I just tried the eicar test file in Chrome with the exact same results as with Iron..........Not a peep from Kingsoft. So this is normal behavior?

tried it last night. i have a compressed folder on my machine with viruses.it`s pssword protected.i unzipped it to my desktop and right click scanned it with KAV. opens up the interface and starts to count until engine initialization..1 min passes (the PC was frozen) and KAV pops up another window (with a crying face) saying that the engine encountered a problem and needs to close and i should try later...i`m on xp sp3 he x86.i really hope that SP20 will fix my problem.SP 3,5/4 had this problem also...what is wrong with my pc that just doesn`t want to run KAV

No; at least not on X32 systems. Make sure that you have selected Standard Monitor in the System Defense settings and then rebooted your machine.

Kingsoft should then pick up all 4 eicar files in Chrome and eicar.com and eicar com.txt with Iron.

 

Kingsoft will pick up all 4 files in Chrome irrespective of whether the Standard or Quick Monitor is selected.

However, in my testing it does not pick up on any of the eicar files with Iron if the Quick Monitor is selected.

 

Version 5 has been released, but even after updating and restarting, it still shows version 4. Wtf?

Yes... but I installed it on top of version 4. Still shows the same.

Just checked the md5 and it's different. The server is still throwing the old version at me.

 

To Kingsoft Security representatives:

I tried downloading the latest version(SP5.0) from your website, but it gives me the old version which is 11.7 MB in size. Can you confirm it?

Also, the built-in updater doesn't update the program to the latest version either. What's going on?
