I just got an HP Omni 27-1054 all-in-one computer running Win7 64 bit. The hard drive I back up to is WD10EALX in a Vantek NexStar usb drive dock. After I installed my old Paragon Drive Back Up Suite 10, I made a back up to that drive in the USB dock. Then I made a Rescue DVD with the PDBU program. Rebooted with the Rescue DVD and tried to find the back up file. But the recovery program can't find the USB connected drive. There are no install disk with drivers with the NexStar USB Dock. So, will someone please tell me if there is a way to get my Paragon Rescue program to find the back up drive?

As a side note, I also have Acronis TIB 2012. The rescue DVD program I made in that finds this USB drive no problem.

    Thanks,

    Dave

Is the Vantec dock connected to an USB 3.0 (blue) port? If so, you have to add USB 3.0 drivers to the boot DVD, or connect the dock to an USB 2.0 (white) port.

Ok. I didn't know it made a difference. I just always connect to the left edge USB ports. This is the first time it has made a difference. Anyway, that worked.

    Thanks very much,

    Dave

Just as a point Paragon Drive Back Up Suite 10 or I am assuming Backup and Recovery Suite 10 does not support USB 3.0 so you may have issues getting it to recognize the drive.

Backup and Recovery Suite 10 is what I have. Sounds like a good time for a update to this program.

I would recommend logging into your account and going into the "buy upgrades" option which will give you a discount pricing to upgrade the product, usually a 50% discount for direct upgrades. Though it is still the full product.

I haven´t found USB 3.0 support in any Paragon WinPE, up to and including HDM 12. I always have to add the drivers manually. I think this is because these WinPEs are 3.0 o 3.1, and only WinPE 4 (based on Win 8 ) has built-in USB 3.0 drivers.

Yes, usb 3 is not natively supported in winpe 3 - you can add your drivers permanently with dism, instead of loading them each time.

iirc there is an option in paragon bmb to add drivers.

winpe 4 should have native support - can't test as I don't have any usb 3 ports.

It should but doesn't mean the unique driver you have for USB 3 will be recognized by that version of WinPE it is why we give you the ability to add the driver into the environment. When I was speaking of BR suite 10 not having USB 3.0 support I meant simply that, the Paragon BR Suite 10 doesn't recognize USB 3.0 it may see the drive but it will function as a 2.0 device.

I tried a WinPE4 some days ago (downloaded, I didn´t create it). It recognized the USB 3.0 ports in this computer right away, it wasn´t necessary to add any additional drivers.

The computer has an EVGA USB 3.0 card and in Windows I use Renesas drivers, so maybe this drivers are included in WinPE4.

Again regardless of whether it will automatically see the USB 3 won't matter that version of Paragon BR Suite will only function on a USB 2 device.
