In the screenshot of posting # 5 one can see the (error) Code 80070643. That is the error code which had appeared on my system too several times, making impossible the installation of various Windows updates on patch days. (I have no idea when it happens - yesterday's updates installed without problem.)

When this error appears I can fully recommend what Robin A. already mentioned above:

After this procedure (it is Nr. 4) presented there in posting #5 by "dockster") every time the error was gone and the installation of the updates worked without problems. :) :thumb:

Let's describe the steps here too:

Before starting you should temporarily disable the updates whose installation fails.

I had problems this month with patch Tuesday on 2 machines. It installed some of the updates but failed 8. I was able to install them by splitting them in half and doing 4 at a time. Not sure why, but exact same results on both machines. :doubt:

I had a weird thing happen this morning. I was using the internet, when suddenly the computer began to shut down. In the process it said not to turn off the pc as it was doing updates, and then it re started as if nothing happened. I checked Windows update and found that 15 updates were installed.

All the command prompts may not be necessary, the first one (a) was enough to fix mine.

So is it safe to assume that the recent update to Adobe Flash player is "what was wrong with update tuesday"?

I didn't update Flash Player because I didn't want to deal with any such problems. I'm still on 11.3.300.268. I don't use Word, or IE, so this patch is meaningless to me. But I would like to be able to update it one of these days and not have it fudge up my Windows Updates in the process. And it's absurd to think most people will have the knowledge to go into the command line and apply those fixes. So I'm assuming this bug should be remedied in the next update for Adobe Flash player? Heck... they should be on top of this already.

Or is this yet another thing I hear about in here that won't affect me in any way? I could download/install this latest Flash update, and the next time I go to use Windows Update I won't notice a darn thing?

I returned home on Friday August 17 after 11 days away and tried to install Windows Updates. This resulted in my losing my Internet Connection. The same thing happened when I tried again after using an earlier Restore Point.

My P.C. runs on Windows 7 64 bit.

Any advice as to how to get back to normal would be greatly welcomed.

@ Green Giant, did you try network trouble shoot and repair yet or has your issue been resolved.

Thanks for your message Dark Shadow.

System Restore did not solve the problem, so I used a back-up copy of the hard drive, and replaced the faulty one with this. All now appears to work.
