Just curious. . . when can we anticipate the next build/release?

FYI . . . I'm not getting the Flyout in Firefox 11 Portable, but it does appear when I'm using IE.

I guess I should have been a little more specific. Actually, I have the portable version of FF installed (and am using it daily) on my system HDD (c:\). This whole idea probably sounds a little strange, but I have reasons for doing it.

Anyway, am I protected using this configuration?

You are if you see the flyout. You're not if you don't see the flyout.

I do not see the flyout, but when I logon with FF, the memory use for "hmpalert.exe" increases significantly.

Maybe you might consider creating your own test tool? Something like EICAR of HitmanPro.Alert - application (with source code provided) that could trigger HMP.Alert warning and at the same time could be used by people for testing their protection. We have things like keylogger test files or firewall leak tests already available, so it's not something completely new & unknown to security market.

    Just my 0,02€ ;)

I wish I had something to test it with, but I'm not really saavy enough to create my own.

We will add a test button before the final release. Thanks for the tip.

I've noticed that periodically I get a "browser compromised" Alert in Firefox after performing certain fairly routine functions such as: a reboot to reset a drive that had been in a virtualized mode, the transfer/sync of a fairly large number of files from one drive to another -- or even occasionally after an image backup.

What complicates this a little is that I don't always get an Alert after these functions. However, about the only time I've ever seen an Alert, it seems like it follows one of these things. And every time I've opted to run a scan its come back negative, so I assume it's a FP.

Could it be that these actions are somehow affecting/altering my browser files?

I've spent quite a bit to time trying to figure this out, but I think I've come to the conclusion that WinPatrol Plus is preventing the little "flyout" notice when starting Firefox. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to affect Internet Explorer - just Firefox (XP SP3).

Anyone else experiencing this same thing?

    Hi Erik,

I just installed Alert on a new install of XP Home 32 bit and when I open IE 8 or FF 15 the flyout shows correctly, but a few seconds later I get a message that an error has occurred in hmpalert.exe and it needs to be closed. More information shows:
    szAppName: hmpalert.exe
    szAppVer: 1.0.3.0
    szModName: hmpalert.exe
    szModVer: 1.0.3.0
    offset: 0001057a

It mentioned 2 generated files which I will sent to you via PM.

EDIT:Forgot to say that hmpalert.exe does not restart itself after that happens.

The vacation period is almost over so SurfRight is soon back at full capactity.

We are working on a new HitmanPro.Alert version. This new version no longer uses a hmpalert.exe process that can be killed using Task Manager (or banking malware).

I expect a new build by the end of next week. Also the few false positives should be less compared to the current version.

    Thank you for your patience.
