Interesting, that exe file does not exist for me. Did you upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0?

Yes. I upgraded... well PCAV did automatically.

EDIT: Nevermind, I was looking in my system but couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks.

Just tried 2.0 on a fresh install with updates and drivers only. Man does it bog down the machine. The onboard defrag and disc cleaner get absolutely handcuffed and hit a wall when executed.........Uninstall 2.0 and they both complete their jobs in quick fashion. I so want to like this product but on my usability tests it has failed.

I recommend you to try again, but keeping it on the system a little longer. Upon installation, Panda Cloud began to build it's cache of files to increase performance. It is also recommended to run a scan after install to better speed up this process.

Oh... Did you try restarting when you got back? I guess the slowdown bug has affected you too, but no worries it will be fixed very soon. :)

On my system, PCAV 1.5.2 (free version) was auto-updated to 2.0 about a week ago. The first day or so it seemed to sputter a bit, meaning it would drag my system at different intervals. Then is seemed to straighten itself out and has been running smoothly. Just saying...

Well, it's been 24hrs and it still pinches the onboard W7 disc cleanup and defrag to the point that I think they will never run/complete. I can only imaging what it will do to 3rd party tools. I plan on leaving it installed for a few days, so maybe it will "fix" itself. :doubt:

We have similar systems. The laptop on which I have PCAV (free) installed is Win7 Home Premium fully patched, with MBAM (free), paid Sandboxie and Win7 firewall.

I had these same slowdowns in the beginning. After running a few scans (both optimized and full system) over a few days time, I can hardly notice PCAV is on my system, and this is also with it running alongside WRSA. Both CPU and resource usage are minimal.

The only thing I am concerned about is the synchronization. PCAV can go 3 to 4 day with no synchronizing. This reminds me of the same problem that occurred in version 1.5 before the hot-fix. I am wondering if 2.0 needs this same hot-fix. I just do not feel as safe as I should with these long gaps in the synchronization process.

Thanks for that info about syncing. I haven't been paying too much attention to that and will have to check it out. I never did the hot fix in 1.5.

BTW - If you have the free version of PCAV 2.0, do you mind sharing what the default settings were in the Advanced Settings window (assuming you haven't changed them and you know what they are)?

@puff-m-d - The synchronization is for the offline/local cache and may not update daily despite that data being collected from the cloud. You are fully protected when online and as long synchronization occurs at least 2-3 times a week everything should be okay. Hakuna matata! If you do not see sync attempts and Panda is working fine, then you may not see a logged report and the offline data is the most recent. When sync does fail, Panda Cloud always tries again and again till successful, this activity is logged in the events report.

@Doodler - Are you concered about the behavioral analysis feature being disabled by default?

Yeah, I think it is time to load 2.0 up and forget the rest. Panda has at least got it right as far as what folks need, and more important, what people want and dont want.:thumb:

I assumed you were one of those that had upgraded but with that feature off by default.

Well I'm totally confused. Some of you say Behavior analysis is enabled by default in v2.0 and some say it's disabled by default. Which is it? And, the better and bigger question is what are the default settings for all the entries in the Advanced settings window? The Help documentation is not clear about this and, unfortunately, there's no "reset to default settings" button on that window. It seems odd there's cautionary language on that window advising against making any changes to the default settings, but there's ambiguity about what the default settings actually are supposed to be.

    Thanks DBone.

All my default settings match yours except Behavior analysis, which was disabled. My takeaway from reading the comments here is that there's no clear explanation why Behavior analysis is disabled by default on some computers and enabled by default on others. That bothers me (a little bit).

I have enabled that setting now on my computer.

could be that their config file failed to overwrite and the settings carried over maybe? just a thought

PCAV 1.x Free has behaviour analysis OFF by default because it is a PRO only features.

Starting with PCAV 2.x we have added behaviour analysis to the Free Edition by default to add another layer of protection as many users asked for this.

    So to answer your question:

Pcav 1.x Free = OFF by default
Pcav 1.x Pro = ON by default
Pcav 2.x Free & Pro = ON by default
