not much here for me ive always been happy with windows explorer , of course did a couple reg hacks and tweaks to shape it to my liking , theres so many shell addons for windows explorer, fyi most of the features opus has can be optained with seperate freeware and are better than opus , the prize is not justified imo

p.s> if tabs is what you wish for just go and get qttabbar for explorer , for batch renaming get advanced renamer and for queued file transfers get either extremecopy or unstoppable copy wich supports transfering of corrupt files from a disk that has bad sectors and for syncing use freefilesync, for the rest use google as have i thers alot to be had with regular windows explorer you just gotta figure out how to bring out its potential ;)

I did not mind explorer in versions up to XP. I really don't like explorer in vista/7 though, primarily because it seems much more clicking/work is involved. Doesn't seem like progress to me, more like a regress. But a lot of the OS is now so "fancy" that it seems more steps are required.

Anyhow, having tried about every alternative file manager available, a lot of them are nice. Some a bit spartan, some a lot of overkill, at least for me.

The reason I use qdir is, as abu shofwan mentioned, the color scheme makes it super easy to pick out specific file types. I do a lot of directory browsing and file manipulating, so that is a great thing for me.

The other "main" reason I use qdir is with its 4 possible panels, and each panel capable of having tabs, and the ability to lay the panels out in multiple ways - it gives me ample room to view more than one directory at a time. Especially useful for comparing or managing/moving files.

The other really nice feature that I cannot live without now is the drill down and drill up method it can employ. I used to be a die hard "tree view" guy, always manipulating windows explorer from the left side, always navigating the tree and only going to the list view on the right when I got where I wanted. It drove me crazy to dbl click every directory to "drill down", primarily because to go "back" seemed to be the slowest part. The "tree view" was much quicker.

But with qdir, I can not fuss with the tree view because once I dbl click a directory and "drill down", a simple dbl click in the "white space" of the current directory "drills up" a level. Soooo much more convenient for me. Gobs and gobs faster lol.

There are many more features I use, but those are the ones that clinched it for me.

    Sul.
