And the Roboscan initial update was also incredibly long--as was the download from their site, directly. (I think I used Softpedia or something for the 137MB download and it went real quick, but that first update--!!)

EDIT: Actually, it was CNET, who I usually can't stand for DL's any more because of their 'CNET_XXX_XXX' DL's. But underneath the 'Download Now/ CNET Installer enabled' is the DirectDownloadLink', which gave me the 138MB DL in under a minute. The 'Download Now/ CNET Installer enabled' gives a 452KB file called 'cnet2_roboscan_is_free_x86_exe'. So you'll still be downloading when you click on it--to get the other 137+MB.

Since it appears that this actually is a legitimate AV, unless I'm missing something, would anyone who has had good experiences with it mind rating it on WOT?

The reason I ask this is because if it really is a useful free AV people shouldn't be scared off by the red flag WOT is currently giving it. Also, I can't include it in my list of AV's:
    http://www.techsupportalert.com/con...alse-positives-multiple-antivirus-vendors.htm
    unless it is rated green.

    Thanks.

WOT isn't 100% accurate, just like any av or security program...

Well, I didn't have a very good experience trying this out. It kept quarantining its own install files on my first attempt. After uninstalling and reinstalling and after a very L O N G boot-up I could not activate the "Active virus control" setting at all. All actions on malware were 'deny' no matter what setting I chose. The url filtering froze occasionally. And to make matters worse there were intolerable cpu spikes and extended boot-ups. Na, no thanks. Not ready for prime-time.

They did that to avoid paying tax like Agnitum. It's not illegal.

This product seems good & I like it.

Before installing it on my production system I want to clear the confusions first.

So sent them 3rd email just now.

You need to be patient... Did you get a ticket number and check your email? After submitting an entry I got an email:

"We aim to respond to you within 48 hours, however we are experiencing high volumes of customer requests at present and therefore may take a little longer. Please be assured we are working hard to respond to you as soon as possible."

Yes I got the same thing as you have mentioned. Its been 70 hours now after recieving their email & no reply yet.

After registering they have the time to send me 3 emails at once for their free & paid products specially but they are lot busy to reply the query with 1 email.

Those emails are automated so I am not understanding at all...

Oh, but the paid AV issue isn't too much of an issue right? We should enjoy the few paid features that it gives us till they fix it. Hehe.. ;)

    Yes right.

If its a permanent free AV then I will install it on my production system.

If its free for a year only then definitely not.

Will wait for their reply for few days.

    By the way

I tried setting my system date ahead 3-4 times to check what it mentions.

    Everytime there was different experience.

    1. Didn't entered the licence & opted for evaluation, restarted, set the date ahead 2 months, it mentioned expired, buy now.

    2. I entered the licence & got 365days, set the date ahead 2 years, didn't mentioned expired but the days left were 0 & it mentioned 1 issue & that was update was old, tried to update & it was updating & everyother things were enabled & working.

Different tries different experiences were there. But there was no option to renew it free at any time. Sometimes it mentioned disabled security, expired, 0 days left but working, 0 days left buy now, etc.

I think this is fairly new AV & they haven't set everything completely yet so things like this.

I posted the following over at Comodo forums regarding that some of you may have downloaded the wrong installer. If your installer isn't named "MYFreeAntivirus_x64_en_eshop" (my machine is x64, and I speak english) and doesn't have "free" in the name, then it it the wrong product. It should also say "MYFreeAntivirus" in the top left corner of the UI.

EDIT: I looked at the screen shots on page 3 of this thread, and none of them say what my product says it the top left corner......"MYFreeAntivirus 2012"

    https://forums.comodo.com/other-sec...er-licenced-t85810.0.html;msg613836#msg613836

"Naren, something is wrong. After going through the very irritating process of getting the product, I received an email with a link and that link went to a page that now had a "download MAF 2012" option on it. I used that download and received MAF. It says MAF 2012 in the top left of the program, and the installer is named MAF 2012 as well. I believe you downloaded the wrong installer."

I used this email, link and password to create my account, then after that, I was shown a blue "download MYFreeAntivirus" button that didn't exist before, and that's where I got my product from..........Not the email that you have shown. You should have received this along with a password to create your account.

    From my email....................

"Exciting news! We have recently implemented MYAccount feature where you can see an overview of your products & Services. In MYAccount you can find your installation instructions, license keys and all email history. You will also be able to update or change your contact details. We hope this new feature will make it simple and easy for you to manage your account with us.

I can't show you a screen shot because I have reimaged to a different config. If I get bored I will reinstall and show you. At this point all you can do is take my word for it. I of course saved the installer, and it has no name in properties > general or compatibility or details (you mentioned a name on Comodo). Yes, the size of my installer is 242MB. I also downloaded it through the procedure I described above.

I didn't mentioned a name on Comodo forum.

You mentioned I might have downloaded wrong installer so I meant the installer is right & its for MyFreeAntivirus 2012.

Anyone if you are going to download MyFreeAntivirus 2012 download the way DBone has downloaded & post here you got MyFreeAntivirus 2012 or MyAntivirus 2012.

    Thanxx for the info DBone.

OK, I thought you saw something different then I saw in the properties menu. I only have 5 days left in my 70 day money back guarantee for WSA Antivirus, so I reimaged to see if I really want to keep it.

I was going to update this thread to say that I was having an automatic update issue with MFA. It never updated itself from 5pm on Sun (install) until I reimaged at 7pm Mon. I had multiple reboots during that time, and the computer was on for several hour stretches too. I'm not super familiar with Bitdefender products, but I'm guessing that no virus database updates in 26hrs is not correct. o_O

We got the paid version with the free installer & the autoupdate was fine. Mine had updated 2wice in 3 hours after initial update.

But you got the free version with the free installer, now only the users with the free version can comment on the autoupdate in the free version, right?

So, I got bored.....:D I launched my installer from my USB drive and it won't install nowo_Oo_O I tried 3 times, and I get a "failure to download necessary files" screen. So I ended up downloading another installer from my email that looks exactly like the one you posted, and it installed, but now on the UI it says "MYAntivirus - the number 1 antivirus engine in the world"......No Free, and no 2012 like before.

I have no idea why my original installer is dead now, but it is.

When you first downloaded the installer, you saved it on harddisk or USB. If harddisk, copy the installer on the USB to harddisk, it would be good if on the same place i.e previously if you saved it on desktop then copy it to desktop.

    Try it if possible.

    By the way

I am trying to get the free version by registering again with a different email add but as I mentioned in my previous post I am not able to remove the retail box with shipping cost option. Would it be possible that they may be detecting the ip address has previously downloaded the free version so not allowing me to download another & therefore I cannot remove the retail box with shipping cost option?

Can you try getting the free version with a different email address? & if successful download it the same way as you did previously & see you get free version or paid.
